As much as I hated Rousey before, I came to the realization that WMMA will die without Ronda.

Holly sucks she looked average in all of her fights (with the exception to Rousey). Every fight Holly wins, she wins in a boring fashion.
Amanda sucks if the fight goes past round 1, but her first rounds are, I admit, fun to watch.
Miesha is fun to look at but her fights are probably the most boring fights in the UFC.

Without Rousey, I honestly have not watched a full WMMA bantamweight fight simply because they are so fucking boring (Nunes vs Tate was the only fight I regretted missing).

I am praying that Ronda wins to save the division.

Does anyone agree with me? If not, please explain why I am wrong.

Thanks for reading!

I am desperately hoping that Ronda wins in an epic way and wins a few more times after that (with her terrible personality sill intact). This will make her second loss (hopefully at the hands of Cyborg) very epic! Like it or not WMMA was at it's best when we all hoped Ronda would lose.

They said this same exact thing when Cyborg smashed Carano into Hollywood. WMMA can and will draw without Rousey. Surely not as well but combat sports have always gone through cycles of star driven booms and busts.

Nunes only needs a fun first round to be cool since she rarely goes past it.

Zingano is a killer most of the time.

McMann can be fun when she performs.

Pennington usually has good fights.

...I miss Miesha though, wahhhhh.

I agree that wmma would have died without however it has evolved since then and could survive if she loses. A lot better fighter and better personality wise since so many fans care about that. Now compare to when ronda joined strikeforce

I enjoyed WMMA before Rousey (Carano) and I'll enjoy it after Rousey (Joanna Champion).

Now, to address the original post:

I think Rousey winning would actually hurt the women's bantamweight division as a whole; with Rousey on top, the UFC will drop everything to feed her as many opponents as they can and try to keep her on top as long as possible because she was the company's second biggest draw and they amount of interest they owe right now is massive; unfortunately, doing so will cannibalize the entire division, as they'll feed her prospects before they're actually ready for a title fight, hurting their development in the process. Meanwhile, if Rousey loses and then goes away, the WBW division has a better chance of being able to develop organically without the UFC having any single fighter to push to the detriment of others.

As a whole, however, I think women's MMA has already transcended Rousey and will survive without her; this is due to the talent of the 115-pound division, which is a lot deeper than the 135 pound division, and has many more dynamic fighters who are coming up the ranks, while 135 feels like it's stagnating a bit, although the addition of a women's featherweight division will probably help 135 a little bit, though I think the addition of a women's 125 or 115 division would have been better for the sport as a whole.

Differing opinions doesn't make one or the other wrong. It just makes for differing opinions.

Normally I'd agree with you but in the case of this garbage thread, TS opinion is definitely wrong. Same mentality as half the Conor fanboys that don't actually like mma outside of their man crush. Conor is exciting, Ronda is exciting, but mma and wmma have plenty to offer outside of them.

"Miesha is fun to look at but her fights are probably the most boring fights inthe UFC." is a good demonstration of TS's use of hyperbole over truth and him saying the only fight he wished he had seen was Tate vs Nunes demonstrates that he cares more for slugfest than skill/strategy (not saying nunes isn't fun to watch)
