In his recent "not an excuse but an excuse" postings Mendes states that the way to beat Conor is to have quick feet and take him down. Basically admitting that he is supremely outclassed in striking against Conor, but also admitting he has the best striking in the division, since Chad had no problems standing and trading with Aldo for 5 rounds and getting the better of many exchanges.

The way to beat Conor is to be Frankie Edgar. That slow plodding forward style will be easily outworked by his quickness.

Only way Edgar beats conor is with lay n pray. Edgar has been rocked and in striking wars with slow fighters with bad technique and no kicks like Grey Maynard. He would not last more than 2 rounds standing with Conor

I'm no fan boy but slow plodding is not how I'd describe Conor's movement.

Do you have a problem with reading comprehension? That is not what he said. Read it again.

When you have to speak for someone "he basically said, he basically admitted" then its you saying it and not Chad.

Chad didn't say or imply that he felt Conor is the best striker in the division, otherwise Chad would have said, "Conor is the best striker in the division."

Gray Maynard disagrees. Frankie is hittable.

no, fighters rarely will admit another fighter is the best at something, espeically something they consider themselves good at.

And it's pretty clear. His gameplan vs Aldo was to stand and bang for 5 rounds. He is now saying his gameplan vs conor would be to avoid striking at all costs. That shows he feels Conor is the best striker in the division.

I agree. Conor is also a lot longer than anyone Frankie has fought in a long time. His takedowns are going to either have to come from far out or he is going to have to move into striking range to get ahold of conor. Neither is ideal

Or he's implying that Aldo has far better tdd and defensive grappling, and that Conor is weaker to wrestling.

But hey, you clearly read minds like Xavier. You already know what they mean without them saying it.

watch the fights, he was clearly confident in the exchanges with Aldo and often pressuring forward, vs Conor he looked like he wanted to curl up and tap

Well get ready for the possibility, Conor is a fantastic striker with retarded power in his left hand. Plus, like all great strikers, his command of distance/timing/interval is truly truly elite.

There were times vs. Mendes that Conor looked like he was about to eat serious leather, only to have it graze, just miss, or he would move with it to lessen impact. He's truly special to watch.

Or he could just mean taking him down is the easiest path to victory.

Why fight someone in their strongest aspect?

    TS is reaching.

Standing with Conor is a bad gameplan. It is known.

Oh im ready. I'm a realist ,on a website full of delusional neckbeards..

Aldo is has also been spectacular to watch during his career IMO.

    They're both great fighters.
Matchup wise Mendes was able to compete with Aldo(on his second attempt) but it was still clear as day that Aldo was the superior fighter in the rematch. Mendes was in the zone in that fight, had a full camp(that was not the reason he lost to Mcgregor) and still came up short.

Aldos defensive footwork is really much better than Mendes. I doubt Aldo vs Mcgregor will look anything like Conors previous fights. Im excited.
