I used to think it was because they were trying to get GSP signed first but with the recent match making I could see them saving him for UFC 201 vs Nick.

With Nate being presumably favored again vs McGregor at 200 I could see them wanting to use that built up Diaz name value and sell the fact Nick beat him in the past.

Anyone agree or will a Woodley fight be announced shortly?

I believe they were really banking on Conor beating Nate the first time ,so they could book lawyer vs mcgregor, now that it's out of the question that is a very good assumption.

Oh, so easy to sell!

Although he hasn't won a fight in 4 and a half years, let's give him a title shot because, hey, he beat Lawler 12 years ago!

Waiting on GSP, if it's not him it'll be Woodley or Thompson if he beats Rory

I think they're going to make Condit/Lawler 2, I mean it makes sense considering UFC is giving instant rematches like free candy.

Everyone keeps mentioning Nick Diaz as a possible opponent for Lawler. Does anyone even know if he got around to paying his 100,000$ fine? I can't see a stoner like Nick parting with that kinda cash. Of course I wouldn't mind being wrong.

maybe something will happen to diaz mcgregor and robbie will get called in short notice/no title on the line

it'll be more ufc fuckery

Robbie -vs- Condit rematch. Nobody cares about Woodley IMO he will get passed by again.

I think they're trying to figure out if GSP will return to challenge him. If not, probably Condit.

Honestly, with the kind of damage they took in that fight (which was only in January), it would be wise for both Robbie & Carlos to quietly take a good long chunk of this year off to heal up. That was a real war.

Especially when you add the Rory fight for Robbie which was only half a year before that.

With the Conor fight/lottery ticket off the table for now, I would not be surprised to see Robbie wait until at least August or so. And I would not blame him.

Nick vs Robbie makes absolutely no sense whatsoever but i dont care :D. I want to see that fight so bad.

What do you consider a good chunk of time to be?
If he fought at 201 it'd be a little over 7 months between fights; at his age he probably shouldn't wait much longer than that, but its also a good amount of healing time for those type of wars.

Nick is too risky as a champ. No shows at interviews/conferences, drug tests, & of course, his mouth. Hes fun when hes around, but the guy just cant get it together. He as a champ would be a calamity.

I mean the instant rematches are getting ridiculous but when is the last time one was awarded to a fighter who wasn't the champ that lost?
Hendricks doesn't count, because that was more of a bullying tactic then legit giving him a rematch.

I'm no expert, though no one really is when it comes to brain trauma yet. It's a case by case basis based on how he feels, and how he's observed by those closest to him. All that being said, if I were in his camp I'd push for 8 months to a year. Don't fuck with the brain, that's my take.

His little brother will be sitting on a profit of about 8 to 10 million by the time it comes around I think it will get covered LOL

Think it was Machida/Shogun 2 which was also after a controversial decision.

Woodley hasn't done a thing to deserve a title shot, either now or in the past. It would be a disgrace if he got a shot over Thompson or Rory to be honest. It would be an even worse disgrace than Conor getting his rematch against Diaz.

Connor getting a rematch with Diaz is fine. Connor holding up Frankie, Aldo, and Holloway in order to get that rematch is the problem. If they can't get GSP signed, i'm more than fine with Woodley getting the fight.

Although i'll be most excited to see Thompson get a crack at it if he can beat Rory.
