Is yushin okami safe? They have had relatively very similar ufc careers with many decisions and two recent losses.

What you talking about. Okami always come to fight though. Guida should be worried.

They need more Japanese fighters to help establish that market, so Okami is needed on the roster. Okami is also a top 5 MW. Who knows. The Fitch firing has everyone worried about their job status.

I find him dull, but the UFC thinks all Asians are the same race and needs as many Japanese for the China cards as they can get.

I would assume so. But then again maybe not, since he's got that whole Japanese thing going for him. Guida should be.

It definitely shows that DW doesn't give a fuck about the legitimacy of this sport.
Its a bit as if the NHL had 'cut' the New Jersey devils in the mid 90s.

yeah dont think DW cares about legitmacy of this sport these days...is all about s-term money and ppv sales.. which makes me wonder if zuffa is in a cash crunch as recently they been making all sorts of decision base on s-term gain while sacraficing long term development and reputation of the sport and brand..

TBH, Fitch being cut was the last thing that I think would ever happen so it doesn't seem far fetched to think that they would cut Okami as well. Both have that similar style and even records. I honestly don't even think Okami is a strong enough draw in Asia to keep him for that reason alone. Fuck Joe Silva...

Fitch and Dana, probably the rest of the UFC higher ups, have a good bit of history. They dont seem to like each other much. This isnt the first time that Jon Fitch has left the company.

I'm sure he was on the short list, especially if he lost like he did to Maia.

We just assume his draw is powerful in Japan.. but is it strong enough that it matters to Dana White?

I don't agree with Fitch's cut, but he lost twice in very one sided fights. He got KO'd by Hendricks and dominated by Maia.

Okami's most recent losses came to Anderson Silva and Tim Boestch, a guy who he had dominated for 2 rounds.

Rick Story better watch his back.

Dana likes Okami. Don't think Okami will get cut unless he goes on a legit 3 fight losing streak

Only if Gomi really starts tearing it up. The UFC needs Okami to keep Japanese fans interested. Okami is really the only Japanese fighter that has consistently performed well over an extended period of time. Now that the lighter weights are in that may change but for right now the UFC needs him.

Maybe! You never know ....I could see that happening

I doubt. As a business, guys like Akiyama, Okami are assets for them to sell events from Japan and all over Asia
