With a win over Oezdemir Cormier needs to throw his hat in the ring at HW again

Jones got stripped which effectively meant DC was champ
won the vacant belt anyway
defended it against Gus
scheduled to fight Jones, Jones got busted and DC beat Silva instead
defended against Rumble
NC against Jones

with a win over Volkan and Jones gone he's effectively shut down the LHW division, he has a good future in commentating, Cain has been inactive for years and years, DC is unbeaten at HW and the division is not looking particularly strong right now, he even finds the weight cut tough, why not go out with a bang with some big-name big-money fights at HW, I don't think there's anyone there he needs to be afraid of.

He could even be a 2-belt champ you never know.

stipe is much different than anything DC has seen before
