with a Conor win

It's not quantity, it's quality.

You can go 30-0 and be much less impressive than somebody that goes 10-5 against the right guys.

And the quality of opponents Conor has faced, compared with what the UFC COULD offer up?

Not so great. If he wins, Aldo will fucking tear him apart and give him a rude awakening.

The point still stands. KZ got a title shot by beating Poirier. Frankie didn't have to fight anyone. Mendes got a title shot off of beating Rani Yahya the first time. To get his second shot he beat Guida and Lentz.

When you put it that way I see what you're saying. Earning the shot itself these days just happens to be who you are and how much $$ you're worth. Unfortunately. I'l agree by these standards Conor's climb was a little messier than recent jokes but they definately saved feeding him to the dogs per say.

Or more or less, if you go on a previous tear years ago, in the UFC's eyes you are able to magically earn a title shot after one win all the time or even a loss (Sonnen, lol)

It's a big mess really.

He was the former champ, coming off two loses, going down in weight, not up.

His accomplishments at lw are awesome, but they have little to nothing to do with fw matters, especially going DOWN in weight.

You do understand that almost invariably the guys who move down in weight do better than those who move up? Especially guys who weren't cutting weight in the previous class.
