Would you rather see your favorite fighter coast to a safe win without any chances taken ie gsp during his title reign/dc vs andy or watch your favorite fighter go out on his shield and lose like Hunt vs jds/ condit vs robbie/ rory vs robbie....

Winning is always the best thing to do.

Show me a spectacular loser,i will show you a loser!

Also not only related to DC-Silva.If you think you are a cool/badass striker, find a way so that others can't hold you down for 15-25 minutes like a little bitch!

I'm a just bleeder. Hate to see a point fight, but I understand why fighters do it.

Depends who you're talking about and which fan is replying.

My favorite fighter of all time is GSP so...

If its my favourite fighter, I'd probably choose safe winning..

Any other case, I'd rather see a good fight

Winning safe. But it can bite you in the ass if you're fighting someone like Diego Sanchez who perfected mean mugging point fighting.

Damn that's a hard one but in a sport like this winning safe is the best option. It may be boring but you are still winning, moving up the ranks, getting paid and taking relatively less damage.

Then on the other side of the coin, you may lose while putting on epic fights but as some point your body would hold up anymore a la Sam Stout.

"Wouldn't"/ "Can't" hold up

I wouldn't call Condit vs. Robbie as either man "going out on his shield", but anyway - Condit is my favorite fighter, and tbh I would not have blamed him one bit if he just stuck and moved and peppered for the whole 5th round against Lawler. He could've won a UD that way, but instead he stayed in the pocket and slugged it out despite being next to out on his feet for about the last minute, and ended up "losing" the decision (yes, still a sore point). For my favorite fighters, I would rather see them play it safe and win than go out in a blaze of glory.

Would you rather be Joe Lauzon or GSP? I love Joe Lauzon and wlil watch all his fights, but GSP's legacy is written in history.

Depends on where they are in their career. For guys on the tail end of their careers like Hendo, Hunt, or Belfort, there's no point winning safe since a win isn't getting them any closer to a title and it's unlikely that they'll get cut after losing a fun fight. But at other times, winning is more important than anything else, and while I will bitch about fighters winning in safe & boring ways, I can totally understand it.

Better in what sense? entertainment? for their careers? for their health?

The truth is that in virtually every scenario wherein a fighter could weigh the pros/cons of getting the W or getting curb-stomped, the better choice for the fighter will nearly always be 'get the w'.

Fans tend to be fair-weather morons anyhow, they like winners more than entertainers.

As @aerius said, it depends on timing in the career and the fighter.

99% of the time, though, winning is what counts. Sometimes it's fugly but it's the truth.

better for who??

For the fighter = winning safe
For the fans = losing valiantly

Is this even a question?

"Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing." - Vince Lombardi

"I have never seen an ugly victory, I've seen a lot of ugly losses. Winning is beautiful." -Bob Knight

I understand winning in the sport gives you money, rankings, personal satisfaction, etc...but I'm not concerned one bit if my favorite fighters takes a L. Because, at the end of the day, mma is just a sport.

At the end of day, silly question....W is always better than L......no matter what

Wonder if you'd be able to say this to the people who put their whole lives into this.
