I've been reading so much about how great these winning gloves are...
do people use the same pair of gloves for sparring AND bagwork?
if so, what model and size for what height/weight? (i ask height because in combination with weight, u can sorta tell their frame size)
Thanks and i would appreciate any input.

I just spat with my winnings. 16oz lace ups. I'm 6'4 and ~ 200lb.

I currently have three pairs of gloves; a pair of Winning 16 oz (MS-600) laced gloves, a UMA IR edition laced gloves and a UMA RT-41 velcro gloves.

I use my RT-41's the most simply due to the velcro closure BUT before purchasing the RT's I used my Winning gloves almost exclusively for mitts, bag work and sparring.

Winning gloves are true work horses and definitely live up to the hype.

Maybe using the same gloves for bag work and sparring is a really bad idea given how the padding compresses over time but I haven't noticed any degradation in my gloves since I brought them.

So if you are on a budget and can only afford one pair of gloves, I would definitely recommend a pair of Winning MS-600's.

My details: 6 foot at 191lb

So you use the ms600s for bag work AND sparring and its soft enough to not hurt your opponents?
Thanks for the detailed response!

That sounds like what his intensions are yes, and to no surprises given the fact that we're talking Winning, which are supposed to be the most durable and protective glove to both the user and receiver.

If I were using just 1 pair of 16oz Winning for both bagwork and sparring, I would probably use a pair of Winning NG2 gel knuckle guards for either the bagwork portions or sparring. Or probably both occasions just to have the glove padding last even longer due to the amazing shock absorption capability of the NG2.

It's like they add an extra buffer between the user's knuckles and the most inner layer of the gloves. Amazing.

Wait a minute - didn't know this was the consensus. Winning gloves are definitely not the most durable gloves ever. They're great and I am a fan, but they are definitely not the most durable.

Wish we all lived closer so we could spar - I'm around the same size.

But I don't agree. If you can only afford one pair of gloves (unless it's due to some rule that you can only have one pair), that probably wouldn't be the best option especially when you could get like 2 or 3 pair to rotate for the cost of a pair of winning

If we did live closer I would definitely be keen to spar, maybe someday in the future.

With regards to the gloves I honestly don't think you can buy a better training glove than a pair of Winnings. Now I haven't used every brand under the sun but out of all the brands that I have tried: Cleto Reyes, Rival, Top Ten, Hayabusa, Twins, Fairtex, Everlast, TopBoxer, UMA, NZBoxer, Sting etc I have to say they don't have an equal - that's just my personal opinion. BUT you're definitely right for the price of a pair of Winnings you could definitely buy a pair of SuperSofts & RT-41's or one of those two and a pair of C-17's and still be very happy.

If OP though is deadset on a pair of Winnings and he intends on training for a long time than I think they should buy a pair of Winnings otherwise they'll suffer from cognitive dissonance (buyers remorse) if they go and buy something else.
