Another stand up thread for you guys.
Any one heard of Wing Tsung? Bruce Lee used to do it, and my cousin's been doing it for 7 years, its very scary, the guys who are really good at it have very, very fast hands and there is tons of parrying, and they break arms and shit.
Here's a video showing a bit of wing tsung; YouTube - Wing Chun with Master Wang ZhiPeng
If it was slightly changed to remove hits to the neck and back of the head, a fighter with this would be very dangerous.
Why aren't there any Mixed martial artists doing wing tsung?

because brock will suplex them, twice.. and then take a chair and bash them with it a couple times, then he'll swan dive off the top of the cage, spearing the wing tsun master . . . .

I completely forgot about that possibility, thanks for making me aware of it.

well i noticed that you were forgetting about wrestling... so i thought i'd just lay that out there, the WWE beats ancient chinese martial arts. sad day for mystical kung fu.

No disrespect but are you new to the martial arts? Everyone has heard of wing chun. Its like saying "have you heard of this art called Karate? Its some deadly stuff"

But to answer your question, I don't think it is that effective. The stance is too stationary. Bruce Lee felt the same way about it.

Nah it's just that i've never seen a mma fight use it so i thought they never heard of it, and unlike Karate every other ten year old doesn't practice it.
But even with that type of stance they are able to parry punches very well, and they are much faster than any boxer or MMA fight i've ever seen, so i thought it'll be good to watch a mma fighter with that kind of speed and striking skill.
I was going to talk about JKD and not Wing tsung but, JKD revolves a lot around hits to the eyes, throat and balls.

what if the guy was a little larger and just went in for a bear hug pinning your arms against your body?

True, but their legs would get blasted by the thai fighters.

It looks very effective for self defense if your opponent is standing straight up, not grabbing you, not giving you any angles and not attacking from a distance with overhand rights, kicks or takedowns, but to me its not pratical enough for MMA...

During the demo, the master was blindfolded, he can do what he wanted as long as he felt the guys arms against his.

They don't start MMA touching each other.

How effective would their blocking and parrying be if they were not in contact with each other at the start? This is what makes striking so hard, anticipating a strike from a distance.

Once get into contact with each other, you can start to feel each other's energy & movements

Well, it's MMA, so it's not like a practicioner would dominate based on that single style alone. But someone who has trained in it for some time might have some interesting tricks to offer in close.

It's not that mma fighters/boxers don't punch fast but they extend their punches a lot more and throw their whole body into the punch rather than just flicking their arms.

that looks like a monkey punching
i don't see how this punching style will work in the real world
muay thai put u in the clinch then knees u to death

That clip was a demonstration of chi sao, which translates as "sticky hands". Chi sao is not how wing chun fighers spar. As Jason Chambers says in the narration, chi sao is more of a training exercise used to develop hand sensitivity. Real wing chun sparring looks very different from chi sao.
