Will Woodley do for Lawler what Serra did for GSP?

Is Woodley Robbie Lawler's Matt Serra?

In terms of title fights Robbie is right there where GSP was when he took it easy and got TKO'd by Serra. Then GSP comes back and goes on one of the longest championship runs of all time. What are the chances that lawler will come back to retake the title? Could he possibly put himself into the goat talks up ther with GSP?

Personally, it would be my favorite thing if lawler came back better than ever and destroyed everyone and broke GSP's records but I doubt it will happen.

Mostly because of wonderboy, if he wasn't around I think it would be possible, but still a stretch given all the damage lawler takes.

Can Lawler improve enough to come back and dominate again for even one title win? Or is it over for him and this is the start of his downward spiral? Was he simply luck to even be around these days with his archaic style?

Lawler is almost GSP's age and has been in too many wars. he is not about to become a dominant champion. he is more on the way out...

No. It was more of a right place/right time than a fluke. Everyone knew Lawler was on borrowed time as champion. His run was absolutely incredible, and he's been an amazing Welterweight champ who gave us some outstanding matches but we all knew it was coming at some point. IMO it should have been Wonderboy. He's the best guy in that division right now, and him getting the belt is just a matter of when, but even he might not be able to hold the title for long in such a stacked division. It could be a long time before we see another GSP.

Sadly, no. Woodley is a very legitimate fighter and outright won the title by normal means. Not to say that Serra is not a good fighter, but he was gifted that title shot by TUF and seized the opportunity. I doubt we'll even see that same scenario again.

Robbie can't safely decision people. He's more of a live by the sword/die by the sword type of fighter. The chin can only handle so many miles.

GSP was still developing. Lawler has seen his best days and is fading. Woodley to Lawler is Wiedman to Silva. Beginning of the end.

GSP was 26 and Lawler is 34. How much longer does Lawler want to fight? Does he want 9 more fights?

As a Robbie fan, I don't think so. He had his time at the top.

Lawler lost or was losing almost every fight before this. Condit beat him. Rory was smashing him. Hendricks arguably beat him. It was not if but when Lawler was beat.

USADA and the wars he's been in lately did that to Robbie.

Although I like the man tons, Bisping might fit the bill way better of a 'dark horse who is otherwise one of the very few blemishes on an exceptional fighter's career'.

I just need to see how Rockhold rebounds from that loss.

He was ranked in the top 10, Serra was not. Not even close to the same argument.

Comparing Woodley's win to Serra's. LMFAO. The saltiness continues to show itself in the most hilarious ways.

No, working your way up through the rankings is much more impressive. Whether Woodley was deserving or not is debatable, but his road to the title shot easily eclipses that of Serra. You're not even making an argument. What you posted is ridiculous for the point you are trying to convey.

Woodley is not the biggest obstacle to a Lawler comeback. Maia is.

I called Ty-run would beat Lawler. Most Overrated champ at the time even more than Conor. No way he deserves another shot. He's been gifted enough times.

Ty-run needs to fight the real #1 contender who he stepped over anyway for title shot. Woodley was #4 WB #1 and still is.

That said i wont be sad of WB gets to kick Lawlers butt as an exclamation point and to make him undeniable #1. So easy of a fight for WB.
