Chael's talk was more along the lines of Mohammad Ali in terms of "I'm the greatest". Conor's lines are more specific. He spoke that he'd go in and take every belt in every weight class and destroy all the current "bums". Easy for Chael to continue with "I'm the greatest" after a loss because no one takes it as "No one can touch me". They took it as him just trying to sell a fight.
