will we ever see a NFL quarterback in MMA?

Yup, i'm sure they'd come running for 50/50 and 5K in reebok money.

Some of them are. Fighting requires a lot more intelligence than other sports too.

if fighting requires more intelligence than other sports, why does everyone think football players are the top of the food chain? most of them are broke in 3 yrs of retiring and have accrued a MASSIVE amount of brain trauma/CTE.

Because that's what is popular to watch, and that's what most people want to play in USA. Intelligence has very little to do with it.

Thats the dumbest shit I heard all day
No one with the skills to be quarterback would choose a different position
No one would choose not to be the center of attention, the star of the show, the big dog on campus

Yea the prom queen wants me to fuck her but naw I'll just stick with this chubby math nerd instead
If you're good at football you're going to be swimming in pussy either way, regardless of position. Most guys choose their position in middle school or in pop warner anyways, and they just choose their position on what's going to be the funnest for them, not what's going to make them the most money or fame in their 20s and 30s

Most intelligent people would rather not choose to fight for a living.

Most intelligent people would rather not choose to do any sport for a living. It does not change the fact that fighting requires a lot more intelligence.

No, because USADA would catch them before they even start to train.

Fighting, as any sports requires knowledge of the sport in order to compete. But this knowledge isn't something that can't be taught to an NFL athlete, especially a Quarterback who is one of the smartest guys on the field, if not the smartest (if not because bunch of players come from Ivy league schools, especially lineman). I mean, an MMA coach can teach boys off the streets of Brazil with no formal education whatsoever to be one of the best fighters in the world. Boxing coaches can teach Boxers off the streets to become the best Boxers in the world. You don't think they could teach a college graduate which is what the majority of NFL athletes are.

Here is a picture of an NFL playbook.

Its as thick as the an encyclopedia. This is what a QB has to learn. You'd have to be extremely smart to grasp the complexity and retain everything in an NFL playbook. If MMA requires a certain level of intelligence, that isn't an issue for an NFL athlete just as it isn't an issue for the great fighters in history from both Boxing and MMA who come from the streets.

Plenty of very intelligent athletes in all sports. They made the intelligent choice of competing in sports for millions rather than making thousands being a doctor, lawyer, etc.

You'd be surprised, there is a football culture in this country (murica).

They(parents) raise some of these kids to be football players and it does indeed start in pop warner.

You clearly don't have the slightest clue what goes into fighting. You think that's a big book? That's a bitch book. Most NFL athletes don't have the intelligence for fighting, just like most basketball players don't, just like most everybody else doesn't. Fighting is the most natural, yet complex sport there is. Finding out where to lob a football is child's play in comparison.

Looks like I triggered one of those fat dweebs that take their shirt off and dress up with paint all over themselves like they're five years old.

You're sport isn't complex buddy. Any 1.0 GPA guy can hire a nerd to do his HW, and go on to the NFL just fine.

Yes, NFL and NBA athletes don't have the intelligence to fight, only because they weren't taught yet. But, they can learn. You do realize technique and skill can be taught right? It just takes time, but they can learn it. Coaches in MMA and Boxing have taught and trained average joes and boys off the streets to become the best fighters in the world. You don't think they could do something similar with a high level athlete with athleticism(something that can't be taught) and great physical attributes(height/reach/explosiveness).

You should look into Deontay Wilder's story if you don't think an athlete with a boxing/basketball background can't excel in combat sports. He had dreams of being in the NFL/NBA, he wanted to go to college to play for the Crimson Tide. But the birth of his daughter who suffers spina bifida and grade issues forced him to attend nearby community and turn to a boxing career. He started training Boxing at age 21 in 2005. In 2007 with just 2 years of training, Deontay Wilder upset the favorites to win both the National Golden Gloves and the US Championships at 201 lb. He did that with 2 years of training against guys who were probably Boxing their whole lives. This was a football/basketball guy. There is nothing a great athlete can't accomplish in sports if the devote their time to it.
