No. The HW elite now are 20lbs more muscle mass and taller. Couture was never 6'1.

LHW today are 210lbs to 232lbs. Most are in the 215lbs to 225lb range on fight night. A few are lighter and a few are 230lbs or 232lbs (like Cormier).

HW really starts at 230lbs or 235lbs and goes to 285lbs if we factor no weight cut

Well might as well get rid of weight classes then. A lot of MW could beat some LHW. That why I say to make the weigt divisions larger not more weigt classes. Once they eliminte weigt cutting like One championship did.

HW: become 230lb or 235lb to 300lbs
LHW: become 205lb to 230lb or 210lb to 235lbs
MW: 185lb to 205lb or 210lb
WW: 170 to 185lb

Agreed but eventually for fighter safety walk around weight matters. Cage weight= in shape training camp weight.


It is not healthy to be like some guys are. Be over 20lbs over your cage weight.

When he first came to the UFC, there was a lot of talk about Cro-Cop vs Liddell, and Mirko said he'd have to chop off a leg to make LHW. He was either unwilling to cut weight or bigger than most people thought...

Love cro cop but some things. size matters i think after 25lbs or 30lbs except at weight classes way below like FW and below. then 10lb differences matter. but cro cop striking was such above many. He did beat gonzaga in rematch. with him the size difference only seem to matter with bigger much stronger HW like Kongo and mir. JDS only like 25lbs heavier but way more lean muscle mass
