Will the US under Biden recover some of the international standing it lost during Trump's tenure?

In terms of knowledge about him it's of course very appropriate, my amusement came more from the general reputation of his own character.

Agreed, from a moral perspective, Dana might not have been the best choice..lol

<{MingNope}>

This is one of the most ridiculous statements I’ve ever read in the war room. Well played!

The EU was the only region in the world, around 2014, where a majority saw China as having already replaced America as the global economic leader or predicted that they soon would. Deny it all you want, but segments of the EU have been drawing closer to China for ages, and the question of where they'd stand in a US-China standoff hasn't been entirely certain for a long time. If nothing else, the fact that China has basically bought Greece was always going to get in the way of the EU's ability to be loyal to American values or interests.
Same with Australia. It was a long-avoided question about where their loyalties lay - with their economy and China, or with their culture/security interests and America.
Likewise here in Africa. We all used to be very pro-America, but now we're in China's back pockets - laying down 5G and looking past the American century.

Asian allies have been the exception, but Trump's not really pissed any of them off.

I am honestly curuious why did you say "The real question is China?"
Will Biden's presidency be lenient toward China and continue to treat them as though they're an "ally-in-the-making" or continue to be a critical (albeit tempered) voice against them.

What the fuck is “international standing” and what does it have to do with a successful foreign policy?

Y’all act like international politics is a popularity contest..

Ah gotcha it seems more than ever there is a bi-partisan push againts China and more more national security experts are raising concerns about China as a military threat.

But at the same time I am hearing stories about Biden being in the pockets if Chinese influencers.

Honestly I really think China will be a difficult riddle to solve no matter who is President.

Some critics say Trumps Tarrifs did nothing significant and only if at all temporarily slowed China.

It'll recover in some meaningful ways. It will also likely not return to it's proper standing for quite some time. No nation would dare trust a Democratic president when they know a Republican now has precedent to pull the rug out from any agreement.

If by "recovering international standing" you mean being squeezed for every penny they're worth in exchange for "global influence", then yes. They will certainly attempt to recover some of that lost "prestige", for whatever that's worth to the American citizen.

I think a little, yes. But mostly this:
It'll recover in some meaningful ways. It will also likely not return to it's proper standing for quite some time. No nation would dare trust a Democratic president when they know a Republican now has precedent to pull the rug out from any agreement.
On the other hand, there was much hand wringing and little action. For example, NATO and the EU saw how unreliable the US is for protection but did they do anything concrete about it? No.
If Russia launched an invasion tomorrow it would still be Americans leading the defense of Europe. Hypothetical, of course.
The TPP countries did something, though. They signed their own treaty and it's pretty much it, the US may join it but it will not impose any of its terms anymore. That ship has sailed.

Early in his term, Biden will re-enter the US in non-binding agreements with other countries in stuff like climate change. It will do nothing for climate change, but will press will eat it up.

He will then sell things that go pew pew pew like every other president.

Trump is probably the president who did the most to damage the primacy of the United States in international affairs. Under Trump, the US more or less decided to undermine cooperation or not to play an important role in issues like climate change, human rights, international trade etc. Trump was a great president for China, whose international profile grew immensely during his tenure. Will Biden be able to reverse the current course?
You’re a loon. Standing up for yourself never causes less respect.

Being a rude prick isn't alpha.

Is Trump hunching down as to look shorter than him? Man Putin has him whipped.

I think Biden will be so in over his head everything he touches will turn into a laughingstock.

You just sound bitter that China is rapidly catching up the US as the economic super power. That’s factual if you look at the recent data. No one is denying it. That’s got fck all to do with ‘Europe cosying up with China’ which clearly isn’t happening. Why would Britain offer citizenship to millions in Hong Kong, pissing the Chinese off, if we are looking at swapping allegiances. We haven’t backed yous up on everything in the last 4 years because your leader is a compulsive liar, and complete fckin moron. That’s all likely to change over the next 4 years

The US has chosen to vacate areas of their influence around the world, and China/Russia are stepping in to fill the void. That’s your choice. If you think Europe is happy about this then you’re deluded

Trump def meant to have the US have the favorable sides of the deal. Thing is, there are so much players involved, the implementation was messed up. This is not necessarily Trump's fault, nor any other single person that could be POTUS. Also, "marginally lowering" has multiplier effects across a vast amount of people belonging in the middle class. You can't really dismiss it as ineffective.
Any competent leader would understand consequences to actions. China is our #1 ag buyer. How would that not have crossed his mind? He’s an egotistical little bitch that made entirely self serving moves while fucking over the ordinary man.

evidenced by he and his cronies insider trading and getting filthy rich while telling the public that covid is fake. Giving Trump any level of benefit of the doubt makes you a dip shit.

TF? I am not even a Trump supporter. Kind of ignorant if you would dismiss everything he does as tyrannical. Just doesn't seem rational. Go away piss belt.

Sure will. You'll be kicking the shit out of some loser country in some stupid war in no time.
