After watching last nights NYE event, the guy is arguably the best kickboxer in the world right now

Remember that video, where Dana gets manwhiched between Semmy and Overeem at a past UFC event. Dana promises to sign both these guys. Well he got Overeem, but I'm still waiting for Semmy to come on board :icon_cry2

ok, before some of you jump to claim that he'll be a fish out of water in the cage...Let me remind you, he's not new to the MMA game. He has over 30 mma fights (two of which were in the UFC, and fought the likes of Fedor and Barnett.) The guy is already 1-1 in the UFC

I mean, its fucking RARE to find a kickboxer with those kind of stats, think about it...The closest that comes to Semmy's stats is Overeem, and even then Overeem has a rookie kickboxing history compared to Schilt.

What's Semmy fighting at these days? Last I checked he was fighting at around 300 lbs, so I'm not sure how easily he could make HW, especially at age 39. Also, I doubt he's trained his ground game in years, so MMA is probably not something he'd be committed to getting back into at this stage of his career.

Hey man, that fight was too short to show us anything. That kick was a fluke! Anybody in HW KB can score a flash KO with a kick. I need to see dominance to be proven anything. Hunt deserves a rematch!!!

I heard a couple years ago he was in talks but he's too old and probably hasn't trained any grappling in years.

Haha. Look at the size of SS fist.

I've been a long time fan of his, great striker can take a beating but is susceptible when taken down and put on his back.

A return to the UFC is long overdue.

I would have enjoyed seeing him return 5 years ago.

But he's too old to make a move like that now. Especially when he's still at the top of the KB heap.

Boom. He was like 288 last night, I don't see him dropping 20lbs at his age even if he wanted to.

i don't think the HW limit is a big problem, he can make 265.
the real problem is that i don't think is very interested in fighting mma after long time, plus he is with Golden Glory that have big ties with the promotion Glory.
basically he is in the same situation of Kharitonov.

Yeah, no. James Tony was the last non-serious UFC freakshow fight.

Ignorant post is ignorant. Semmy is unlikely to return to MMA for a lot of reasons (age, weight, too much current success in KB, too long removed from MMA/ground game), but to compare him to Tony or label him a "freakshow" is ridiculous. Semmy has fought--and won--at the elite level of MMA before, including wins in the UFC and Pride. He was a former King of Pancrase, FFS. He's no James Tony.

in k-1 fights he usually the one dishing out punishment, in mma against top level fighters he is usually grapplefucked and gnped, that kharitonov loss was hard to watch. he just made 400k in one night of work, thats jds purse for his last ufc fight, in k-1 there are just more options for him, if he was in ufc he would be exclusively fighting for ufc.

No one in MMA would stand a chance against him on the feet.

    No one.
