will PPV numbers suffer? Or is all press good press?

I wondered last night if the PPV numbers would further suffer from the incident or if they'd actually go up a bit. Some will probably say that all press is good press, but considering the injuries already suffered, I wasn't sure. Now that Pettis/ Chiesa isn't going down, I sort of imagine that there might be less interest... but I still wonder if the press around the card will actually help the numbers with casuals.

What are your guesses?

Mo Salah running down the wing, Mo salah the Egyptian King!

Less interest from me at least, but I think the Conor press will bump the numbers with casuals who had no idea this was even happening.

From my experience of eavesdropping in bars, you can never underestimate how little the casuals are aware of things beyond Maymac and you’ll do nutin

yeah, I wonder. I dont know any casuals, so I've no frame of reference

I think it will do well with all the press. Casuals will think Conor is fighting.

I'd imagine less interest. People aren't going to buy a card just because a fighter who isn't fighting anymore does something stupid. People hearing three fights being scrapped however does affect the card.

Seriously, who is now buying Holloway vs Khabib that was not already before?

Are there 25 people out there who suddenly want to watch this fight because Conor McGregor is a coked out imbecile? He's the Adrien Broner of MMA.

3 fights that received no promotion of note were cancelled. Nothing big lost.

A man who Conor flew across the world to try and kill is fighting, gaining more attention than anything on the card including the main event that fell apart within the week. Big gain.

Then again this is an event that Dana is saying is trending to be the biggest card since Conor/Eddie (meaning bigger than Jones/DC 2, GSP/Bisping and Ronda/Nunes). So lots of mind bending statements being made.

Chiesa and Pettis is only somewhat interesting to hardcores. It may actually boost up the casual ratings but i seriously doubt Chiesa / Pettis being off could hurt hardcore buys.

it will even out, sure people lose interest in buying it because almost a quarter of the card isn't happening, but at the same time this incident has reminded people that there is an event this weekend.

it is a well-liked fight before conor and is a well-liked fight after conor though, I must admit, I was looking forward to seeing Bruce Leroy fight.

If this PPV gets more buys because of this shit then society is fucked. 3 fights cancelled but the God Conor was involved. Idiots like that are how people become internet famous or are celebrities purely for being celebrities. It's retarded.
