Machida could beat everyone in the mw top 10..
But personally I think weidman will remain champ
and would win a rematch.. So unfortunately I'd
have to say no. What do you think?

No. He's getting much older too.

If Vitor beats Weidman, then yes.

He's not beating Weidman ever and I don't see anybody else beating Weidman so probably not

TS, when you say Machida can beat anyone in the top 10, I assume you aren't including Weidman because he's the champ?

Personally I don't think Machida can get past Weidman or Jones. I also don't think that Weidman or Jones will be defeated any time soon, so by default I don't think Machida can win the belt again.

This. I think Machida can beat anyone in the division aside from Weidman. Don't get me wrong he did well against him but I dont see him beating him. Weidman is just getting better and Machida is getting older.

exactly, thats why i also said i think weidman would beat him in a rematch.
and im only talking about mw not lhw.

I think he could do it if he had a good next couple of years. Weidman is great but Machida took it to him in the final rounds. If he pushed the pace he might be able to win. I'd never count him out.

Of course not.

After so many years of fighting he just realized that he should be more aggressive and not be a boring point fighter...

We'll see how his next few fights play out. He wants to fight four times a year and only against top fighters in the division.

There are lots of interesting matchups for him. He could make another run at the title. But we just have to wait and see how things play out.

War Machida.

It's definitely possible. I could see it happening one day.

He has all the skills to be the champ, hell, he just gave Weidman the toughest fight of his career. Had Machida been able to pick up the pace earlier, he may have won. Weidman looked great in the first three rounds though.

I don't think people realize just how good Weidman is on the feet. His ability to control the distance and time his opponents is pretty crazy since he's still so young in his career. The fact he can stand and beat guys like Anderson Silva & Lyoto Machida is simply amazing. Both are known to be very hard to time, to land a clean shot on, Weidman did an outstanding job against them on the feet. What makes it more impressive to me is that Weidman really isn't that quick on the feet. He had a very fast double, but striking-wise, he isn't all that fast. So it's crazy how he can control the distance, time and keep up with guys like Anderson & Lyoto Machida. Now he has to go up against another very fast guy in Vitor Belfort, should be a good fight.

Machida gave Weidman hell though, it was a great back-and-forth war. Sadly, I don't think we'll ever see Lyoto fight like that again. You could see how badly Lyoto wanted to win that fight, he showed tons of heart and determination.

I'd love to see Weidman and Machida fight again one day. That being said, never count out Lyoto - he may just win the title one day. Machida always comes back stronger.

Props to Weidman on his win. That guy is truly something special.

As much as I like Machida, no. I don't think he'll ever hold gold again to be honest. However if I'm wrong... GOOD! prove me wrong Dragon.

This is a great post.

I thought Machida was done after the third round, but he showed the heart of a champion and came back in the fourth and fifth rounds.

For sure. Even though his 36 , he id still very young physically. If I didn't know his age I would say he was as young as weidman. I think Machida will be fight at the top level for more 3 years, so I think he has good chances. War Machida !
