In his last two fights, we've seen Jones rely on clinch-fighting a lot. He's been very sucessful at it. Does anyone think that this may be a strategy he has prepeared for Gus? Jones had a very hard time with Gus. He might not want to risk going into the fight with the same strategy. Heavy clinch-fighting could be his way to defeat Alexander. Gus isn't known for his clinch work. Jones definitively has the advantage there unlike in the boxing range. On the flip-side, Alexander is very hard to nail down, since his fighting-style relies on a lot of movement and range, so getting into the clinch could be troublesome. So, does anyone think that Jones focuses so much on clinch-work in order to be able to beat Gustafsson?
He tried the first fight. Its not like he never tried to clinch at all. Gus movement really stifled it.
Jones was constantly trying to clinch with Gus in their fight, but every time he got near Gus immediatly broke away.
Jons ego is probably at an all time high after the DC fight, so I suspect he'll try to kickbox with Alexander and resort to the clinch if necessary.
Here's something really important to understand about the first fight: Gus controlled when the two made contact throughout. It's not that Jones wanted to strike with Gus - he was forced to because he couldn't find an answer to Gus' movement or his ability to break off any attempts to clinch.
