Why did the ref call over a doctor to look at Barber's knee last weekend in the first place? Is this going to be normal protocol from now on any time a fighter limps? Is there a section in the rule book about this? I'm trying to find more info about it, but I'm not having much success.

Because Wmma

That shit never happened to a man. ~Joe Rogan

For real

That was really weird. I don't think that will be a common practice.

It's a little concerning if it's going to become a trend.
I mean the doc said she had a tear and same breath said she's fine.

I dont know it's gonna be an issue nor a on going practice.

It was bizarre esp. the outcome.

Doctor: Let me see if your knee is fucked.

*Does test*

Doctor: Yeah, it's pretty fucked. Go get 'em tiger.

Yeah why bother with the test if it doesn’t matter either way.

The UFC will install one of these next to the octagon for every event from now on

I don't see a problem as long as the test is fast and doctor says they are good to go.

Diaz getting inspected in the third, while getting cut in the first was worse.

They should clarify which injuries qualify for a doctor stoppage, but ultimately, you can't trust the injured fighter to evaluate himself and it's totally the doctor's call. He is the specialist after all.

I think PFL's "smartcage" already has mri scan inside it.
Damn... i know you are joking but i actually didnt know about this "smartcage" stuff.

Just looked it up and now im curious how this is going to work like.

Sounds like it could be really awesome or a total stupid gimmick

I've never seen it. Sounds like no one else has either. But I also don't get what the big deal is either.

Watching it live w/o sound, I was somewhat intrigued. As in "huh, I've never seen that before." Watching it again later, Rogans (and then sherdogs) reaction to it was....a bit over the top. IMO.

I suppose it's just another 'this week's drama' that no one will remember or care about next month. Chicken Little style.

even this doctor thought it was weird. The reaction was perfectly valid

Imagine how different things could be if a doctor stopped Conor vs Max because of Conor's knee
