Getting KTFO isn't good for his image. Casuals never cared about him getting submitted as they don't consider grappling as fighting.
But him losing on the feet in a convincing fashion really killed his persona imo.

The only way Conor can now redeem himself is if he KOs Poirier in a trilogy fight & convinces casuals that his loss was a fluke.

Yes but not to the same extent. The aura around him is dead in the water.

Yes. People will want to see how he recovers from it. But if he loses again, then people will start losing interest at least somewhat. But the biggest star in the sport doesn’t lose all drawing power that easily.

He's going to need to go back to his trash talk game after this if he want to stay in the spotlight. The respectful Conor is not going to be much of a sell anymore.

Oh he definitely will be a big draw for the next one.

But if he gets KO'd again then that will put the nail in the coffin.

This was the first event I had paid for in more than a year and I'd pay for the next Conor for sure.

Good points TS.. They know how to market and sell him, I'm sure they will strategically try their best.

Truth: He's going to have to fight Diego Sanchez level fighters if he wants to keep winning.

He's an average LW at best.

His marketability took a massive blow seeing him knocked out dead to the world, but it will continue to trend downward because he has devastating losses waiting for him in the LW Top 10.

No one keeps their aura of invincibility up forever. It happened to Anderson. GSP never lived down his Serra loss. Jones has no shot at HW now that he had two close wins at LHW.

Sherdoggers harped on about Conor's submission losses right up until Diaz I, and after that he may as well have been a whitebelt. A close second was his shit wrestling after Mendes. Then it was his cardio after Diaz II.

Now he probably has no chin.

Sherdoggers love to believe faux narratives. You're either invincible or you were never good to start with.

Pretty hard to trash talk when the lasting memories people have of you are verbally quitting against Khabib then tapping out and then getting ko'd by Dustin.

What can he say? Start going after family or ethnicity like he used to? Then that opens the doors for opponents to bring up the rape allegations and elder assault.

His draw is his personality and trash talk that he mostly backed up. Plenty of exciting fighters are not big draws. The loss will definitely hurt his drawing power, but he will still be the biggest draw
