McGregor kind of reminds me of Erick Silva after he choked out Brenneman. Fluid and aggressive striking with great movement and athleticism. But can McGregor actually move to the top of the division or would he be yet another flash in the pan?

Silva makes everybody romo, McGOAT doesn't have that kind of power.

He'll be another Houston Alexander after he gets put on his back and people realize there's nothing after his first line of defence.

Put him against someone like Guida and we'll see.

Can he even beat Nick Lentz? I think it's time to test the hype

The question is who will be the Dong that will give him stiff competition?

He is if he can't do anything against guys like Nik Lentz or Clay Guida. I say match him up with a grinder to find out.

Conor is Irish , Irish are great craic , he ll be GOAT

Really ? He kinda reminds me of Aaron Ryan from punchout!

They are similar in that they are both explosive and destructive strikers. They are also both heavily hyped fighters whose buzz revolves mainly around their striking games. Excluding that, Silva has a BJJ base whereas McGregor has only recently added grappling to his repertoire (since the start of his MMA career). Silva is also a completely different variety of striker to McGregor. McGregor is really savvy and fundamentally sound, Silva relies more on his athleticism and reflexes to blitz his opponent, though that's not to say McGregor lacks these qualities. Just look at the way they each defeat their opponents - they are not really comparable. McGregor will methodically dismantle his opponent with timing, counters and movement. Silva violently blitzes his opponents in most of the fights I've seen.

As to whether McGregor will meet the same 'fate' as Silva, I'm not really sure. I don't, however, see McGregor being KO'd in the same fashion by a grappler. But who knows until he is matched up with a strong wrestler who doesn't allow him to work his game. Given his base, he's actually more likely to be wrestlefucked than Silva ever was.

As to who's more handsome? I've gotta side with Colin McGoober.

Does McGregor punch with his right hand (or non-punching hand) at his hip while his opponent is advancing and also throwing a punch?

Mendes would knock him out in one round.

He'll be a top guy, but not a champion. Can you imagine how thoroughly a guy like Aldo would dismantle him standing? His talent and heart will take him far- a little further than Erick Silva because he's in a weaker division- but he's not sound. It's a decent comparison. I think it's unfair to call Erick Silva a flash in the pan. The kid is very good and he'll be around for a while.
