Will Chef Chenko vs Kate Chookigan be a good co-main?

I honestly can’t remember any of the challenger’s fights. That cannot be a good thing because I tend to take pretty good notes on almost every fighter on the roster and I cannot figure out what Kathy Chookigan does?

I looked up a little bit of her footage and she looks a lot like Holly Holm and kind of fights like her. She moves around a lot but she constantly punches air.

We’ve seen Chef Chenko absolutely cook up some of her opponents and also be in some booooring fights.

This discount mart Holly Holm doesn’t look like a willing dance partner. She also had a loss to Jessica Eye who got decapitated.

I feel like this fight could potentially suck the air out of the arena for 30 mins before the main event starts just like that last Holly Holm vs Pennington fight.

nope Shev easily outpoints her 50-45...they embrace after the fifth and final round. we all awaken from our naps to watch the only fight we care about in this mediocre card.

Who knows but for only $65 you get the opportunity to find out.

I feel it depends a lot on Chookagian. Does she really want to go after it? If she does, she’ll get finished. If she doesn’t she’ll get outpointed 50-45 or worse.

I don’t expect it to be exciting.

The betting odds indicate that the fight goes 5 rounds is -215, pretty heavy favorite so that does seem to be the case.

However, I hope that Shevchenko realize that she has a chance to be the biggest thing in WMMA, which we've seen could get pretty huge, so that she will go all out to finish Chookagian who poses almost zero threat to Shevchenko.

Huge if that turns out to be true.

This. Chookagian has almost no path to victory and she usually fights very conservatively. She'll get picked apart and lose a lop-sided decision...unless she goes all out (then, she'll get KOed like Eye). I'm normally a staunch defender of WMMA, but comparing this fight to Holm-Pennington is an apt description; both are counterstrikers. Fights between counterstrikers tend to go to decision.

Chook is going to be completely outclassed. She's just the only person for Val to fight. 125 is super shallow, no one in the top 10 has a prayer of beating Valentina.
Good chance Chook gets blasted trying to close the distance early in the fight and then throws her remaining strikes from 2 feet out of range. Our best hope of this not being a 25 minute snooze fest is that Val takes her down and subs her. Cross your fingers for that.

I'm a big fan of WMMA, but even I do not expect this to be an entertaining fight.

This is what sucks though. Somebody needs to deviate from counterstriking and it needs to be the champion.

This. She’s 10 levels above everybody in her division, she could absolutely starch everybody like she did to Eye and become a superstar. Here’s a fight she would have to try to lose, she needs to send a message in this.

It may not fully be her fault. Her head coach has the tendency to basically tell her play it safe and not take risks in between rounds...

Doesn't matter as long as they keep their biggest star in the company.

No, its gonna be 25mins of nothing. I will fast forward as I do for most WMMA fights. I'll sit through Zhang vs. JJ though.
