No I still think most people will think it's Poirier.
In rankings yes
In reality no
Everyone knows the fight should have gone to Poirier, and he turned it down. And right now he's the one to beat.
Patricio > UFC
Patricio Pitbull would have a very strong claim to 'The Best LW' title if Chandler were to win.
I view Bellator as a minor league organization, but you can't ignore Patricio flatlined Chandler in two minutes, made it look like it was a walk in the park.
Probably would also have a very strong P4P claim.
UFC is better and will always be better than B (mostly C) league bellator.
another pathetic Toner agenda thread, yawn.
No one thinks Poirier is the best lightweight in the world.
100% of the population believes Khabib Nurmagomedov is the best lightweight of the world, because he simply is.
With Khabib gone, the "next best" is up for grabs.
FWIW, I think Chandler will KO Poirier if and when they meet.
I think Chandler will knock out the proven-quitter Olivera and gain the throne.
I also think Chandler is also the best representative for the division.
if Conor wins in July - yes
if Dustin wins - no
Poirier is the best lightweight in the world. Chandler would have to beat him.
Probably for marketing.
nope, but ufc will surely try to push the narrative
Poirier, and then, IMO, Chandler/Pitbull/JG
Khabib is retired, so no.
Not until he defends and baits khabib out of retirement.
Yes. Gone. You even said, so I didn't have to.
Don't be obtuse.
Khabib can't be both the best LW in the world and also not be a MMA fighter anymore and retired.
How can you claim Chandler is a better LW than the guy who ended his title reign in Bellator by knocking him unconscious in two minutes; most would say he sent Chandler packing from Bellator.
They were not going to give Chandler a seventh undeserved title shot, they had a champion they were comfortable with and there was no where for Chandler to go but out; as in out of the organization.
