Can Aldo/MacGregor be the most watched MMA bout in UFC history for a weight division below 170 pounds?

BJ Penn was probably the biggest draw who fought below 170. I think UFC 101, which had BJ fighting Kenny Florian for the lightweight title (and Anderson Silva fighting Forrest as co-main), earned 850,000 buys.

Can Aldo/MacGregor match that on the strength of McGregor's media savvy?

Since UFC 101 also had Spider and Griffin, for the sake of balance, assume that one more big name will be on the card - Silva, Nick Diaz, Rousey, etc. - even if they aren't in a competitive bout against another big name.

Nope, the women get more views then this. Rousey, also Carano vs CYborg.

There is no way on earth Bj Penn vs. Florian got 850k buys. If it did, damn that's a lot of buys for a decent fight.

Edit: I guess Silva vs. Forrest helped out, but damn 850k for those fights?

Rousey doesn't get those PPV numbers in the UFC.

Forget Strikeforce and Showtime. Just look at PPVs, since I'm pretty sure MacGregor/Aldo will be a PPV event.

There have been lightweights on FOX, so no.

Maybe the most PPV buys (I'm not sold on that either though) but not most watched.

There's pretty much no chance of a fight on PPV being the "most watched."

Bendo/Nate Diaz on Fox did about 5.7 million viewers in the U.S., which, for those keeping score at home, is more than three and a half times as many as Lesnar and GSP could muster together on PPV.

If a lot of those PPVs did a mil, it would be a much bigger deal.

Am I just completely oblivious, or isn't ufc 100 the only ppv to crack a mil?

Again, I'm not being facetious, this is what I've always thought.

Fans, new and old, are looking forward to this fight.
Both fighters in their prime...will be a hell of a fight. Both are aware of the ability on the other end and will come out as prepared as any fight in their respective careers.
Very exciting! Cannot see this being the one to break the 1 million PPV buys that have been non-existent for a long, long time.

Love both fighters...can't wait for the to bring it!!
