Question is pretty simple. Will we ever see a UFC champion successfully defend their belt more times than Anderson did?

If you believe it is anyone besides Jon Jones (for obvious reasons), you should make your case for that person.

GSP would need 3 more victories to tie and 4 to surpass, definitely a solid case made for him.

GSP's gonna have to fight more often before he gets old and his physical advantages fade, but yeah he's got a good chance

Yes probably but will they do it as impressively? not likely,Jones while im impressed by how he has looked and how dominant he has been, nothing is more awe inspiring then toying with people then ending them with 1 blow like the Bonnar fight.

I agree. Even if GSP is able to surpass Anderson, I'd still rank him higher than GSP.

I think the chances are higher for the next dominant champ to be female.

The talent pool there is much shallower, so there's more opportunity for somebody to stand head and shoulders above the rest of the division.

I figured some of you guys might state a case for Aldo too.

    Bones.

... & this is not even debatable.

He'll also hold the LHW & HW belts simultaneously.

He'll also have the most HW title defences & the all time most consecutive title defences.

    100% GOAT.

Yes as long as he keeps ducking gus :p

i think Jds is the worst matchup for Jones heavy puncher, who is hard to wrestle with the size difference could end up being a kickboxing matchup that Jones wants no part of

GSP will if he fights that long. Will anyone have as many top 5 wins as GSP has?

Its pretty debatable, especially after coming off of what many consider to be a loss.

Jones has already flogged Gus, he's moving on to the next victim.

As for Cigano, Cigano may get a lucky punch, but fact is, Bones would rag doll him to the mat & elbow Cigano into oblivion.

Jones will. Especially after last fight which made it clear it would be too soon to move up to HW. He'll stay at LHW as long as he can and beat everyone, set a new record and then move up.

GSP is almost there right now. He might do it by the end of the next year. Outside of that it will be tough, but I am sure somebody will come along and have the tools to do it. Aldo certainly has a shot, probably both Edgar and a vastly improved Chad Mendes pose serious threats to him. You might see a lighter weight guy like Mighty Mouse do it, partly because at that weight a fight isn't as likely to end with one shot as it does with the big guys.

I think it's cause Aldo wants to move up to LW soon. If not, I think he's got a good chance of tying or surpassing the record.
