I'd say kabob but I think he retires young
It is more like 8 years. 18 wins in a row with 10 of them being title fights. That is the most impressive thing anyone has done at FW with Holloway closing in on it.
Khabib would easily but he doesn’t sound like he wants to fight that many times, and he gets injured a lot.
i still got jones
since 2011 he's never lost a title fight
Well, atleast you're retired now.
Definitely, especially if they're as popular with the casuals as Diaz/Conor, then they'll protect them like Conor/Jones. We might actually see 15 straight, especially after they move the venue, don't release failed drug tests, and towel-gate 9 of the defenses.
Itll be hard to have the luxury to fight in a weak division for so many years.
It’s surprising GSP couldn’t reach 10 title defenses considering that his title reign consisted of one dimensional fighters and LWs.
Him only just barely finishing a LW (corner stoppage) out of 8 title defenses is embarrassing
Not gonna happen. Too much up and coming talent even if champions are allowed to hang around and cherry pick. Plus it seems what some would call elite fighters are now just looking for that payday and early retirement.
Jones won 13 straight since he became LHW champ
I may get trash for this but Kevin Lee may if he becomes champion. He already has experience against the best of the best and now training at Tristar he has a lot of wisdom and expertise in his Corner. I can see him becoming champion around 29-30 and going on a long streak. A lot of the tougher guys at LW like Tony, Khabib, Gaethje, Poirer will probably be gone or move up, and I don't think the next generation of LW's look that talented. He's also had nothing but praise from Firas Zahabi and GSP so we'll see but Kevin Lee definitely may be the next dominant champion.
I tony beats Khabib and then Gaethje, his UFC run is just as impressive as any title defense run IMO
I think you combined Chris Cariaso and Tim Elliot. Tbf though combining them makes it a legit opponent.
Patrick Cote and Thales Leites top 5 all time at MW.
Both runs were great. Yeah, DJ had weak competition here and there because he cleaned his division. He finished Cejudo, Benavidez (also beat him by decision), Horiguchi, Moraga and also beat Dodson twice. Hell, Borg may be unknown but he beat Jussier Da Silva to get his shot, that's no easy feat.
Valentina is my bet. Don't see anyone in all of wmma beating her except Nunes.
And he was going up to 205 to put people to sleep (sure they were handpicked LHW's still was badass)
Nope they weren’t handpicked. James Irvin confirmed that 4 LHWs (Rashad, Thiago Silva, Vera, Jardine) turned down Silva before he finally accepted.
LHWs were ducking MW Anderson. GOAT shit right there
Anderson Silva is a GOAT. I added that on because the last time I said he went up to LHW and massacred fighters someone wanted to argue nonstop about how he handpicked his opponents. Not in the mood to run that back. Great post though. I actually tuned in for most of Irvin's fights even though he was never going to be a champ his fights were always going to end with someone going to sleep.
