Report Finds Wide Diversity Gap Among 2014
The Human Torch and Nick Fury are black. Now they need to suck dick and wear women's panties too?
"Stacy L. Smith, describes as an
Far less women comics also. People should be told what to find funny.
Doesn't the box office dictate what people will be paid and who will be in films.
Yup. Its all about money
soo basically the best grossing flims have mainly white, straight, males? Damn i feel my privilege gnawing at me.
73% movie roles are white, so what. Whites make like 75% of the population in the US.
Wait, where does Avatar fit in all of this (Highest grossing film of all time) fit in all of this...most of the cast wasn't even human...
Yeah, I love when social studies fail at statistics.
WTH? The majority of top grossing films are action flicks. Although I seem to remember that Julie Newmar - to wong chu with love and the birdcage did well when they released; typically we aren't going to spend money to watch a movie about drag queens daily lives - we get that for free on reality tv.
George's movie was way better, to be fair.
Interpreted another way, the data seems to indicate that people enjoy watching white people in movies considering they are choosing to pay money to go out and watch these films. If white people starring in movies were a really a problem then people would not choose to watch them.
It could also be the fact that people want to see a movie because it's entertaining and they really don't give a shit about the skin color of the people starring in the movie.
Yup, this seems like a bunch of hullaballoo.
Focusing on sales speaks to consumer trends, not the suppliers, but these people are trying to imply that because people pay to watch mostly white movies, that there's some diversity issue among the suppliers. Makes little sense.
This is the same thing that comes up in the black community about films and the answer is always the same: If you want Hollywood to make more black movies then prioritize those movies when you're spending your money. If you're skipping the latest Tyler Perry melodrama but watching the latest Tom Cruise action flick then the numbers are going to reflect that and decisions will be made accordingly.
I hate when legitimate diversity issues get sidetracked by this type of bs.
so your telling me that movies made in america are predominantly white and straight?
well this is just shocking
The issue shouldn't so much the percentage at which minorities are represented, but the way they're represented.
I feel like a minority amongst minorities. I hate that Tyler Perry has basically been chosen as the representative for "black movies".
The NY Times should include porn films.
That'll narrow the gap between male and female roles right there.
It would also shine a light on an oppressive wage gap.
