Shogun has totally destroyed knees and Minotauro is already like a drunk boxer.

but some "fans' want them to keep fighting!
why???? don't you care about their health???

they won't fight the same as in their Prime and will just receive more damage even if they somehow won their fights!

They'll get them killed, sooner or later.

Believe me, fans do care about fighters' health. So does Dana White.

No fighter wants to leave after a loss, nor do they after a win. It's tough trying to save someone from himself.

I understand where the TS is coming from, and the concern is probably genuine, yet at the same time I feel that the fighter's management and family should have more input in retirement. Ultimately, it's up to the fighter whether or not it's his/her time to hang em up.

If a fighter isn't capable of fighting anymore, he'll make that choice himself. Who the fuck are you to say otherwise?

I understand the "there grown men" comment, but the UFC is under no obligation to give them fights. As a corporation you have to look out for your best interest and I think it's in the UFC's best interest to stop giving guys like Chuck, Shogun, & Big NOG fights.

I still can't believe that people talk shit on GSP for retiring before the game passed him by

Again the UFC can say that. It's a termination of employment. It isn't a "right" to fight in the UFC, it's performance based. They aren't performing and it's in the UFC's best interest to terminate the contracts.

Simple as that. The fighters can fight in other organizations if they so please, but many of them will not.

Pro tip: The UFC has not terminated the contracts of Shogun or Nogueira.

Shogun was looking great in his last two fights. No man on earth could absorb an h-bomb on the bridge of the nose. Shit happens.

    Big Nog? No comment...

Then what the hell are you even talking about? Your opinions are clearly not the same as Zuffas, so why are you throwing your opinion around like it is?

Because it's an opinion it doesn't have to be the same as Zuffa's that's how opinions work. Is it really that hard to understand?

It is my opinion that it's in the UFC's best interest to retire fighters like Big Nog and Shogun. Prominent fighters having brain damage 10-20 years down the road isn't morally OK or business smart.

No one cares that fighters get brain damage, it is lip service. You hate on boxing because of what happened to Ali?

As long as they remain marketable to nostalgic fans, they will have a job.

Because they chose to be a fighter and they should be free to live their life the way they want.

You might not, but I do. Kind of the point of the thread.
