I'd imagine the cost of running a burger joint is much less than that of a steakhouse? Especially when ol' Johny was buying in everything (probably not using wholesalers) and it seemed like nothing was made with care or attention.
 
Hard to fuck up a cheeseburger. You just grill it for like 13 seconds a side.

The presentation looked like a typical steak night at Ponderosa or Shoney's. Generic, bland, typical... None of which are appealing
 
The food industry is the hardest to succeed it takes passion you cant be half assed.
This. Even if you do have passion, there are so many factors, it is extremely difficult to succeed. Location is huge. Staff, both front of house and back. These guys just slap their name on a place with an ownership stake - the actual restaurant is run by the managers and executive chef. Even the top names in the culinary world frequently fail and close locations.

that and aldo opened it in brazil with US dollars lot more bang for dollar when converted. hendricks also i bet half assed it.
