if you have a webcam on your pc or laptop, it takes a picture every few minutes and sends it to Microsoft... doesn't get much worse than that
Lol at the paranoia in this thread. Oh no they data mine they are going to spy on everything!
Pretty ignorant thoughts. Turn off all the options, configure a firewall, and use a VPN to encrypt traffic and you're more than fine against 99.99% of crap.
This guy gets it. People don't understand or are just ignorant to the fact you can turn off almost all of the data mining and tracking settings. I have a local account and every single setting that allows the sending of information to Microsoft has been turned off.Lol at the paranoia in this thread. I stayed with Windows 7. I read somewhere that 10 can also take your personal files or basically anything that is in the computer. They aren't limited to taking a picture or watching what you type, anything in the hard drive is considered their property to take as they please.
The problem is that everyone is spying now from individuals, to corporations, to government agencies. I would recommend looking at something like this. Its called an ICloak. It comes as a USB stick, you plug it in and reboot your computer. When the computer reboots, it boots on an autonomous operating system that is embedded in the USB stick. In other words, your hard drive doesn't even spin up, your ISP receives no notification that you are actively using your computer.
It has TOR network in it so you can also surf the deep web with this device. It isn't perfect but its a great first step when you really don't want people watching what you do. It also has a secure password system, it blocks viruses and malware that may be on your computer. It hides your location and unlocks content. Say you are in a foreign country and want to watch content that is blocked in your country, like Netflix for example, this device will unlock that content. Lets say your work blocks certain websites, reboot with this USB stick, bam unlocked.
It can do alot of other things too but I don't want to get into that here, you figure out what is best for you. It will not hide you perfectly, there are other steps that have to be taken but for basic stuff like what I already listed, this little stick is a must have.

This is just a replication of existing free software with a fancier label. Anyone would be a fool to pay for thisI stayed with Windows 7. if you are using an iphone/smartphone/internet your data is being mined/watched. its all a matter how much they are being useful and helpful with it.
Paranoia is when you think something is happening that is not.
Okay...people are saying the NSA are behind this and they are spying on us through our webcams. Also they haven't even touched Windows 10 but think all of these options to turn off basic data mining (that other devices and applications use) are all just for show. That's ignorance and paranoia
