He is just 19-11 . As soon as good wrestlers starts taking him down he will start losing again.

I don't think the hype is that he can hold the belt, it's more about his resurgence and his fighting style. Two things that fans love.

I agree that he will lose soon, but not from wresling. Lawler by tko 1st round (Body Kick & punches).

Because he's exciting and goes to war every fights.

Because....

He's on a 7 fight win streak

High finish rate.

Usually the Underdog but finds ways to win.

Fun style to watch

Tons of heart and grit

Blue collar work style

Always always comes to fight like his life depends on it.

Now while I agree he wouldn't beat any of the top 5, and is perhaps a little over ranked himself considering he has no top 10 wins or fights for that matter (I think)

He's earned his right to be fight an elite WW. If beats Lawler (despite my respect I give it a verrrrrrry low chance) I would have no qualms with him getting a title shot.

cause the dude is a stud and fan friendly but lawler will end his streak imo

His last fight kicked ass.

A lot of people watching on free TV got to see it too

I cant believe I am the only one in the world who is more likely to buy a PPV with Matt Brown on the card.

Agreed. Guy overdosed, turns his life around, and is on the cusp of a tittle shot. It's a great story, Matt brown proved that you can do anything. On top of that the guy fights like he literally is immortal.

The hype isn't that he will be champion....it is that he is an incredibly entertaining fighter when matched up well! Come on....you have to love to watch him fight!

Robbie is 23-10....
IMO Brown should've gotten the nod over DHK which would've made him 20-10.....

And as someone said there's more excitement and joy that a badass cool fighter is doing so well and putting on great fights. He's one of mine and many others favorite fighters from TUF ever since we first saw him that season. Okay noobs, That's why people like him. Yes he's no Uriah Hall, Erick Silva or Travis Brown that the UFC told you was so awesome but he's still badass.

How is this question even a thing?

There is no hype. Most realize he hasn't fought a top level guy yet.

Even nuthuggers like myself recognize his limitations, but there haven't been too many times when a kickass story like this has emerged, and where the fighter involved is, undeniably, a beast. Sure Lawler may KO him, or he may get controlled by a wrestler, but what's wrong with rooting for the perennial underdog who has been continually dismissed by so called "experts".

Exactly, fan friendly style and a Cinderella story

The only people possibly against him are purists

It's the same as Matt Mitrione, he was on the show and got fed some weak opposition so the UFC could market him as a legitimate star.

TUF is a godsend for the UFC. They can popularize fighters that no one would otherwise care about, and if it starts to show that they aren't high caliber talent, they will feed them a string of Chris Copes and Luis Ramoses so that people will buy into their story again.

Kenny Florian, Forrest Griffin, Michael Bispbing, and many other TUF alumni were given a string of low level competition whenever they lost a fight. Matt Brown was given the same treatment. He was given a path that would most easily lead to the top ten, and people are eating it up.

When Matt Brown loses to Lawler, he'll get some undercard nobodies to hype him back up again, and then you'll start hearing about how he deserves a title shot and all this nonsense.

Also, I don't like to watch skilless brawlers fight other skilless brawlers. Matt Brown does nothing for me.

Matt brown is certainly an entertaining fighter, he deserves props for sure, but he's going to be finished by Ruthless pretty quick.

Does that sound like something you could ever hope to accomplish, tough guy?

And don't give me crap about the level of competition. I know for a fact you bet against him in some of those match ups, I know I did. But he's an absolute badass and pulled through. Deal with it. Quit hatin'. If you actually practice martial arts you should be ashamed for starting this thread.
