A fight between Jon and Cain would take over two years of injury delayes lol...

Seriously though, I know Jon Jones is at that Mayweather-ish state now in his career, where every fighter he meets alot of people hope and predict him to lose, then discredit it when he wins, even with the lamest excuses possible trying too hard.

Why should any fighter fight ina weight class he's not comfortable with. If anything, Cain or any other HW that wants Bones, should move down for a shot, same way DC did.
Personally, I'd prefer a Weidman/Jones fight, after The All American get s a couple more wins, as he goes through a painfull weight cut, and even thinks he's bad at it.

Nobody is saying Pettis should move up to fight Robbie, or T.J move up to fight against the GOAT.

1) Jon cleaned out the division
2) If he really wanted to test himself and prove himself GOAT he would fight HW
3) He would be a normal sized HW. Not a small one, but a normal sized one.
4) We want to see Jon lose and if Rumble doesnt do it, then Cain is our last hope.

Jon would be GOAT if he beats Rumble and Cain though

I agree - he should go up and test himself at HW - Anderson did it, so Jones should too. I say give him Walt Harris, or Josh Copeland.

Oh puh leez. If he beats Rumble now alone, he's more than just GOAT.
The only reason people didn't put him above Anderson before was number of fight. When we add Rumble now on teh list, I believe it'll be more than enough.

He beats Cain, people will say he was too small, and pretend JDS never happened. He beats Weidman, they'll say that's a middle weight.

Jon Jones will retire as a mythecal god of MMA, then everyone will start loving him consensusly.

Though if he moved up now. I'd love to see him against Werdum cause of speed and improved striking. Or how Jones will handle his BJJ wizardry.

I think people hope for it because it has been a common thing in combat sports history. Most of the all time great boxers, excluding heavyweights, fought in multiple weight classes to pick up titles. Some MMA fighters have done the same, but I think that MMA is just a different beast and it hasn't been around long enough for us to lose those expectations. The weight classes are a little further apart than boxing weight classes, and the grappling makes changing weight classes much riskier (IMO) than it is in boxing. We have an expectation of MMA fighters based upon fighters in other sports, and the fighters understand the sport better than we do.

Why not? If he beats Rumble he has beat every challenger and will be looking at rematches.

He isnt undersized, he would have the longers reach (after Struve maybe??) and at 6"4 is going to be one of the taller heavies.

Jones is what 230 walking about so Ive no doubt he could be a healthy 245lbs at heavyweight.

Its really about Legacy, Jones and Aldo are both closing in on the top 3. Either man changing weight class and clearing out another division could secure them the greatest p4p fighter in MMA history title.

Depends on how much Jones wants this I guess.

Jones would move up for the glory. LHW is a division for fighters who can't beat the big guys. HW is just ultimate. Open weight is even more ultimate.

Its a matter of character, if he just wants money or records he's fine staying at LHW, nothing wrong with that.

If he wants to please the fans, which isn't necessary but a plus, he should. It would be the biggest of the 3 or 4 legit super fights MMA has had
If he truly wants to "be the best" he should move up, its not like he's too small or whatever, I understand you can "be the best" at one weight class but

But honestly, if you look at it, it's been 5 YEARS since Cain has fought anyone other then JDS and Bigfoot, 5 fucking years. The fact Werdumis really the only challenger after 5 years speaks to the depth of HW, hopefully Overeem or Stripe can get another win or 2 to make a believable interesting fight

Because PEDers are treated best at HW? No HW gets cut for anything ever.

Perhaps he gets tired of beating up on significantly shorter, older men.

Jones needs to face guys his own size and age like Gus more often, I mean if he wants a challenge.

But Jones has his hands full with Rumble for now because that guy has the power to put him out cold.

He should move up if he wants too if not stay where he is it doesn't matter.

He said he would fight Cain if he wants that he should go for it. If he doesn't he shouldn't say he will

He may just have to as he gets older but until he starts missing weight i dont have a problem with him staying at 205

Is not like he SHOULD move up a weight but:

If he beat every possible contender what is left ??? Just the same rematches against DC, Anthony Johnson and Gus over and over again until he gets old and get caught by a lucky punch ??

Jones has at least 2 reamining fights in LHW, Anthony Johnson and Gus rematch. Even the rematch agains Cormier could be marketable but... after all that ??? I think will be better for Jones and his legacy to face different and heavier opposition than just repeat the same rematches until eventually get caught.

Jones could get a top 10 HW fight later on if he wants but thats just one fight and if any HW thinks they can beat jones they should move down to 205 and try. I think jones beats them all.

If he beats Rumble, then there really isn't much left for him at 205. A Gus rematch isn't gonna come unless Gus can tick off a couple wins, which is gonna take the better part of a year, minimum.

That said, saying he has to move up to be GOAT is complete nonsense. Even worse to say he has to move up and fight Cain ffs.

No ones saying pettis or tj should move up because they are small for their weight classes, in the one above they'd be absolutely dwarfed. Jones is probably bigger than Werdum, the hw champ.
And in another statement you say Cain should move down for the challenge, which is probably not possible for him, but Weidman should move up. How exactly so you think Jones would do at 185 vs Weidman?

The GOAT is always a hw, you can't be the best if there's guys that would beat you. As for p4p, when a chubby LHW dominates at HW for 10 years, a HW dominating MWs and LHWs can't hope to catch him
