Why PRIDE is the greatest thing in MMA history.

Too many suspicious steroid allegations for me to recognize Pride as a legit historic MMA org.

They put on some great fights, some freakshows & good production.

UFC is still better & I'm glad they represent MMA. Not Yakuza central.

I enjoyed PRIDE but the worked fights, frequent non-title fights for champs when they could be fighting legit challenger, frequent title fights for champs against non-legit challengers, no drug testing, favorable matchups for certain fighters, freakshow fights all left a bad taste in my mouth.

I guess if you loved the pro wrestling style package, you'd love it and feel it is more "epic" but I'm not 12 years old anymore.

I need more than just a spectacle to get me going.

I think the UFC broadcast format needs to be revamped. It's very boring at this point.

Also part of the evolution of mma has made the sport more boring. Everyone is too well rounded and I think it's obvious when you watch older fights that the ground game isn't nearly at technical as it used to be. Pride regularly matched up elite submission specialists and if you've ever trained BJJ it's pretty obvious how much more technical the ground game used to be

And BTW UFC is older than Pride so its just the copy to you I guess and not really impressive..

I can watch, but the feelings are not the same. I don't care anymore. I don't have big questions anymore. The only division that keeps me interrested is the HW division and it is dying.

As I said Pride happened at the right time at the right place for it to be epic.

And as far as Leko being an MMA laughing stock, it was a joke then just as much as now.

This guy is praising Leko....he went 0-3 in MMA and lost all his fights in the first round in under 1:35.

All that proved was that a kick boxer with "2 years ground game" can get submitted in 30 seconds in an mma fight.

UFC 1 proved that.

Actually most of the pride events were almost all thrilling. Yellows and Reds made sure of that. Some made it by but very few. Also yes all of them had massive entrences except for a few very early prides. If you didn't see them you must have watched the American ppv version.

That it would be...but i would chose to watch a replay of this over watching any....lets say frankie edger fight. Hell I'd watch most of Don Frye's fights over most fighters today.

Today in this day in age it's all about being an athlete first and a fighter second with very few exceptions. Back then it was all about fighting first and just so happen to be an athlete. All these super fights we want to see today we can't get because they just won't do it. I mean we are complaining about Ronda Cyborg difference of 5-10 lbs yet we fucking got Wandy and Mark Hunt fight on 8 days notice and 80 lb weight difference for crying out loud. (which back then was a damn super fight would watch it again today to.....rematch? lol)

Pride had that something, epic it truly was.

Part by it was only hws and 205ers, some of the best in the world and the pure entertainment of freak fights mixed in. The entrances the production, made it special. The collection of world wide talents.

Actually pride didn't implement the yellow card until almost the 30th event.....so again you're wrong. There were about twice as many events that didn't have the yellow card. There was lots of stalling in the early years. And the fights were boring. And yes, that's exactly what I said about the entrances...the early ones didn't have them.

And you realize that most guys that fought in pride fought in the UFC first right?

Even Pride Fighter #1 Sakuraba fought twice in the UFC before he fought in pride.
