Why people dislike Dominick Cruz

1. He's not Brazilian
2. He doesn't finish
3. He's very snarky and sarcastic
4. He isn't huge and black and full of muscles
5. He's beats their favorite BW and makes it look easy

War Cruz

I was number 5.

He's made a fan of me after all his interviews and he has a great knowledge on the sport, battling through injury. I hope to see him back soon, I'd say he'd beat Barao.

Cruz is a hometown guy and I always root for him but that post was pretty stupid tbh

If Cruz was Brazilian his fanbase would skyrocket, at least on Sherdog. This isn't even arguable.

If Cruz finished guys people would like him better. Mighty Mouse finishes one guy and people were on his nuts calling him top 5 p4p and saying he's the best fighter in the UFC with better takedowns than GSP.

He is very snarky and sarcastic. I personally think its endearing, but I can understand people being turned off by it.

Sherdog is obsessed with "athletic and explosive" fighters. Look at the hype for Overeem, Lombard, Uriah Hall, fuck even Papy Abedi got more hype than Cruz for just showing up to a weigh in. Serious.

The fifth applies to all dominant champs tbh

He wins often , is somewhat intelligent, and not extraordinarily humble. Any athlete who has those 3 traits will be hated on.

Cruz has never been in a fight as boring as Barao/Faber.

I bet if he were Brazilian you'd add him to your sig. So biased its sickening

I was going to answer you properly, then I saw your sig, laughed, and decided to just stop it here. I'm not sure but I bet you are from Arizona.

Not at all. What kind of assumption is that?

It'll happen too. Then you'll have three "Soon" and only one Brazilian champ. Not looking good for you ;)

I love Dominick. He is my favorite at 135. I love his style and don't understand how people don't appreciate him. I understand alot of frustration comes from him not defending the belt.

I like how he mixes it up compared to someone like GSP who always just does the same thing, might not have huge power or finishing ability but fights are fast paced and exciting

Maybeshewill but most likely Barao is going to finish your guy.

I don't dislike Cruz he's just meh and is imo more of a dancer than a fihgter

"he's entertaining as shit"

if some people don't like him it's especially because he is not entertaining at all ...

His footwork, head movement, combos, and TDs are amazing to watch. To me none of his fights have been boring. He is not strictly a counter fighter and his fights are at a fast pace.

Barao won't fight to finish against Cruz, much like he didnt against Faber. It'll be a tactical war, though Sherdoggers will call it boring (at least if Cruz wins, otherwise it'll be an awesome performance by Barao)

People dislike him because:

- he is a small guy fighting in the lower weights

- he hasn't been active in ages but is still considered champion

- he beats everyone and isn't particularly humble about it

- he beats fan favourites like Faber (soon Barao too)

- he doesn't finish fights

He's one of the best champs in the UFC with an amazing and unique style, and also one of the best commentators out there with a great way of articulating what's going on and with a fantastic knowledge of the game. If he comes back healthy he will comfortable beat Barao too. I don't think he cares that Sherdoggers don't like him. Personally I think he's tops.

Nah I think he will look to tap the blue belt, Cruz' wrestling is very good though so it won't be easy. If Barao can't get it to the ground he'll probably knocks him out or wins a dominant decision. Beside his dancing skills Cruz hasn't that much of a stand up game.

Cruz will out strike Barao, the question is if Barao will land hard enough shots to sway the judges opinion like it almost did in the Faber fight (Cruz landed 90 sig strikes to Fabers like 50, but two hard punches from Faber made people think he won). I don't see Barao taking Cruz down and keeping him there, considering Mayday was getting up from under him before he essentially mentally broke from getting front kicked.

He will certainly not win a "dominant decision." This alone tells me you're irrationally hating on Cruz.

cruz is good
cruz seems like a decent guy

but i dont know many people who get excited to watch his style of fighting. its effective but boring as hell. hes the pure definition of a point striker and his style gives the lighter divisions a bad rep in a sense.

You seem to forget that his knee is trash and he won't be able to dance like he used to, ring rust is also a real thing so I don't see Cruz having much success against the stand up game of Barao. Who keeps a great distance with his kicks, can clsoe the distance well is fast and also more powerfull.

Even if Cruz knee is fine and he'll come back like he never was gone he will have problems with Barao, a guy who is probably bigger than Cruz himself with a longer reach and a real thread on the ground. Long story short Barao isn't a flyweight like MM, Benavidez or McCall the 3 best wins of The Flyweight Dominator besides Faber.

I'm not hating bro you are nuthugging...

His knee injury causes problems for sure, but it shouldn't be bad enough to completely limit his footwork. Barao does keep good distance, but Cruz's use of angles will make it difficult to Barao to adjust. Barao might be a little bit bigger, but he won't be so big that he can stuff Cruz like he did Faber. Barao's biggest wins, aside from McDonald, are guys Cruz already beat. Benavidez and Mighty Mouse are also two guys I could see beating Mayday anyhow. Hell Benavidsz already beat Barao's next opponent standing for 3 rounds, so lets not act like the Flywwights are worse than the BW; they were elite BW at the time.

You said Cruz is a "dancer". That's the most common use of a Cruz hater.
