Honestly, Rumble has the best win at LHW of all the contenders. He beat a Top 5 Phil Davis, while Gus and DC are beating up on borderline Top 15 guys and hoping for an easy road to the title shot.

Let Jones fight the most deserving contender, and let Gus fight DC for the #1 contender spot. All great fights.

DC deserves a title shot more than Gus and Rumble right now.

Nah, DC has a far better resume.

1) Because Rumble is well behind DC and Gus in the pecking order
2) Gus vs DC eliminates one of the 2 most exciting challenges for Jones out there
3) refer to points 1 & 2.

You're welcome.

Jones fans are as big a joke as Jones is....all of them scrambling to get Jones an easy fight...Truth is either DC OR Gus will beat Jones' ass. So they try to find anyone that can stand up & make weight to fight Jones...Pityful, with every excuse, Jones' character & his nerve are being questioned...Tommorrow Frank & Dana meet with Jones, it's his last chance to man up - he better do it!

1) But he shouldn't be. He has a better win at LHW than either of those guys, and has shown a willingness to earn his way up by fighting a top fighter. Neither DC nor Gus have done this.

2) It temporarily eliminates one of those guys. A win or two puts them right back into contention. It's not some type of real dealbreaker other than in the minds of short-sighted fans.

Pretty much this. Terrible idea.

yeah, but he really lacks a top 10 win. and the guys DC beat are not exactly a murderers row either; all in their thirties and towards the end of their careers, pretty much out of contention, with frequent losses in recent times.

but i agree, he does have a better resume.

NO.

At this level, all of them deserve title shots (just like Cain and JDS never ran into each other without a belt on the line, when they easily could have matched them up)

Also, just in case Jones really owns the division, it's better to have all 3 of them have a path to fighting him without bumping into each other.

Rumble is almost there in terms of competing and winning the belt. A few more fights. The only 2 qualified and skill wise that are ready are Gus and DC. Gus is fully ready, DC may or may not have a knee problem. All roads point to Gus can't run from the challenge just face it. I have never seen a champion more picky in MMA ever. I don't think we will ever see a more picky champ ever. GOAT eye picker :icon_lol:

Actually, Gus has a win over #1 Jones back in September. A much better claim for a title shot than a win over #5 or #10.

And, speaking seriously, Rumble doesn't have enough hype yet. UFC is in ppv selling business so if contendets are plentiful, it's not a matter of most deserving, but a matter of most marketable. Now it's Gus>DC>>>>Rumble.

Lol @ Rumble, after 1 victory in his return fight to the UFC... Getting a title shot?

No. Just no.

1) Yes he should be. One (albeit very impressive) win does not a title contender make.
2) I should have added it rules one out 'for the foreseeable/ immediate future'. Carpe diem and all that. Rumble has plenty of time, DC, less so. Strike whilst the iron is hot and other assorted clich

Rumble only has 1 fight since coming back and is already schedule for another. Has anybody ever had so many title defenses against replacements? Just fight who they tell you to ffs.

Don't get sherdoggers.

They claim to want to see best fight best, yet you propose something like that, they don't want to see them beat each other

Uhm. It's kind of difficult to get top 5 wins when you are ranked #2 and #3 behind the champ (guessing DC is #3 now). Rumble does not deserve a TS for beating Davis. Although one could say that there are more deserving people today than when Gus was granted his first title shot, it doesn't change the fact that there were no one else when Gus fought Jones and Gus showed in that fight that a rematch makes sense. How in the hell one would think Rumble should get the shot before Gus and DC is beyond me. DC? I understand your reasoning. Rumble? :icon_neut
