Given Rhonda Rousey's great success in mma, why have we not seen any new Olympic prospect in the last few years? Former Olympic wrestlers, judo, and boxers have great job offers? Is the willingness to fight a rarity in athletes?

Cejudo won gold in 2008. The UFC has killed the appeal of trying MMA with the Reebok rubbish.

They are not tempted enough to earn a Giblert shirt the hard way

Really not too sure. I think part of the reason is because a lot of them are foreigners and MMA just isn't big enough in their country for them to understand it's viability.

Good luck getting an olympic medalist in boxing to make the switch. They will already have boxing manangers and promoters breathing down their neck to go pro and will most likey be dangling more money in front of them than Dana White and co ever could

not everyone can make Anderson Silva money, playboy

Oh yeah... Because there's soooo much more money in Women's boxing than WMMA .

This is true, especially when a boxer wins gold. It is the pinnacle of amateur boxing and from that point you are basically groomed to be a world champ in the pros with all the top promoters and managers courting you and offering big money contracts.

I'm referring to it solely on the men's side. Don't really care about WMMA or women's athletics in general.

and i just realized the the topic is about wmma. *shoots self in foot*

There aren't any female olympic boxers making more money than Ronda.
