Love this fight, and I love Machida, so let's just throw the bias out the window.

But, I see this fight happening slightly similar to the Weidman fight. Rockhold, like Weidman, has excellent distance control while applying pressure, as noted by the Phillippou knockout and throughout the Bisping fight. Machida has been known to do the same, but Rockhold, like Weidman (although not so much) will threat the takedown. Another aspect of the Weidman fight which bothered Machida

What Rockhold does better than Weidman while applying pressure from a distance is utilizing his kicks, another aspect that puzzled Machida throughout the Weidman fight.

However, I believe Machida will have more success in pocket exchanges against Rockhold, which makes this an awesome fight.

Ultimately, I go with Rockhold via UD.

Rockhold does not put pressure as Weidman does.

This fight is really interesting style wise but I think it is going to be boring for the Just Bleed kind of fans.

I don't think Machida will be too worried about Rockhold's takedowns. I'd say Machida has a better chance of taking him down with a sneaky trip or something.

I agree with the fact that Machida won't be as worried about the takedown, but I don't see Machida forcing this to the ground at all.

This will be a frustrating and difficult fight for Rockhold, IMO. I think the odds will be against him.

Off the top of my head, I'm imagining it may resemble Machida vs. Mousasi to some degree.

This is a good fight. Both men have great standup with the advantage going to Machida, especially if he pressures Luke. Both have standout BJJ a with the advantage going to Luke.

    Can't wait!

I kinda agree, though 'terrible' is probably too strong world.

Essentially, Rockhold can do the same thing Davis had done, only much, much better. His kicks, movement etc. are way more effective.

    Winning without controversy.

Can't see it... Rangy, powerful threat all around - was sure way to stifle Machida's offense in the past.

Rockold is also really skilled at mixing his strikes and wrestling, proven it many times.

I predict Machida will get KO by leg kicks for the first time, either to the body or head

I would change it to "difficult" or "risky".

I think both guys post interesting challengers to each other, I don't really have a clue how the fight will go. Rooting for Luke though because I want to see Weidman vs. Rockhold.

He's not a bad matchup for Lyoto at all. It's vice versa my friends.

it's a great match up none the less. if rockhold wins, he in the title picture. i don't see how he'll be able to land much on machida. machida is like a viper that is ready to strike once someone gets in striking distance. his accuracy is off the charts.

rockhold likes to fight from distance like machida. this will be a chess match. i don't think that rockhold has the power in his hands to threaten machida. he'll have to rely on kicks and i believe that machida will be able to counter those. machida found a way to get to jon jones in their title fight. i think he'll do the same against rockhold and take home the "W."
