How come The King of the Streets isn't there yet ? i'm not here to judge who is already inducted, but by the same criteria, shouldn't Marco be there too ? his importance for MMA is immeasurable.
The first cross-training fighter, he is the ancestor of modern MMA, the first leg kicker, maybe even the first guy to throw spinning fist shit, he proved a fighter could be efficient in every aspect of fighting and every art could morph into the other. Everyone ducked this guy in his prime, no Gracie wanted to fight him and he did challenge Royce and Rickson.
If you think about it, he originated that Brazilian Muay Thai/BJJ Combo that made a lot of champions, and is still going strong to this day, Aldo is a good example.
Is Marco's record a problem ? he had a shorter career (9-4) compared to other hall of famers, but he was a game changer.
The man is a living legend, won the freaking tournament with a broken hand, fought 3 fights in one night and dominated everyone. has the respect of everyone involved, but still not on the hall of fame ? i bet we'll soon see a fighter of the actual generation inducted before Marco.
Why he isn't there yet ? what's UFC's criteria about this ?
