Why isn't JDS talked about when it comes to P4P rankings?

    Looking at whose he's beaten and the relative ease he has had with a lot of his opponents, I am kind of confused as to why his name doesn't come up more often. Its always Silva, Gsp, Jones, and Aldo being talked about. I'm sure if he beats Cain then moves on to beat Overeem people will talk about him more but I think he has been impressive enough already.

    Because, by definition, p4p rankings are meant to compare lighter fighters to larger ones. You're not gonna get into a p4p discussion as a heavyweight, as theoretically, you should be the best fighter, period.

    If JDS can, at this moment, defeat every other fighter lighter than he is, and STILL would beat them if they were scaled up to his size, then yes, he could be in the discussion. But p4p discussion is generally reserved for smaller fighters.

    He is the UFC HW GOAT. So he has that going for him.

    Because his skillset and accomplishments arent as impressive as Anderson, GSP, Jones and Aldo.

    In the very least, Aldo is a JDS that can kick. Anderson has god knows how many consecutive title wins, same with GSP. And Jones is finishing one former champ after the other in a span of 2years and less.

    I think that title still belongs to Tim Sylvia or Brock.

    Agreed because to consider JDS right now for P4P would be ridiculous.

    Its debatable when you look at their competition and how dominant they were.

    Based just on title defenses no he isn't.

    LOL come on dog. If JDS and Brock were to fight today, yesterday or on Brock's best day he would lose. Beat up Couture, unified the belt against Mir and survived the 1st to come back against Carwin. Most overrated title reign ever. According to 95% of Sherdog Mir sucks anyway he's only brought up in his losses never in his wins. JDS beat Mir and Carwin anyway. Brock/JDS would be a more brutal version of Brock/Cain.

    He is talked about in P4P rankings! Any P4P rankings worth their salt have JDS in there. The guy destroys everyone

    My favourite is the P4P rankings that continue to have Gil Melendez up at #5 or #6 :icon_neut

    Because P4P HWs tend to not be that good. In my opinion a scaled down JDS wouldn't even crack top 5 in any other division.

    How does that work though?

    JDS is tearing through everyone at HW. A scaled-down version of JDS with the boxing, TDD, BJJ and natural power would be near the top of any division IMO

    just a matter of time i think,he only has one title defense and hasnt faced nearly the same caliber of fight that gsp and silva have for years, but a win over cain and overeem would get him well and truly into the discussion

    JDS should be up there. Although obviously not as long an undefeated UFC run, I reckon JDS has fought and defeated better fighters (or at least as good) as Anderson's undefeated UFC run.

    Cain = Henderson (maybe not as accomplished, but just as much a threat, Hendo is Anderson's best win, as is Cain for JDS)
    Werdum > Maia/Leites
    Mir = Rich/Forrest
    Cro Cop = Marquardt (CC was albeit past his prime)
    Carwin = Sonnen
    Nelson = Okami
    Gonzaga > Irvin/Bonnar
    Struve = Leben/Cote
    Yvel = Lutter

    He should at least be in consideration given Anderson is #1 according to many

    His style makes it harder to compare him to other p4p greats. He has sharp striking and a very strong defensive wrestling game, but that's really all we ever see. Not that it's bad, but when you have guys like Jones and GSP and Silva who demonstrate massive skill sets each fight, it makes it hard to put him on the list.

    He is close though. I honestly have no idea why Sherdog would include Lesnar on the top 10 when he was champ but not JDS.

    P4p is what it is,

    Fedor was on the p4p list but he was a well rounded HW fighter in a time with none of the amazing lower division fighters you see now who can do everything on a high level.

    Outside of the power, what else do many of the HW's have outside of that to claim a p4p list from fighters with better games and just as dominant runs then those top HW's. JDS is where he belongs and when his game comes into its own and he starts diversifying his game, it will change, which he seems to be doing now.
