Hes definitely at least in the conversation. Plus I suspect he will be catching even more bodies and growing his KO list. Lots of great matchups for him even if he loses to Fury again.
Why is Wilders power in the jab so underwhelming?

If you commit to power in the jab you just aren’t in as good a position to throw a right cross afterwards, which of course is Wilders honey punch.
When Wilder does choose to execute a stiff jab, he actually does it very well IMO. The problem I guess is that his overall lack of coordination means that he really doesn’t feel able to then commit to the right in the way he wants to.

Bad technique. Overall his power lies in stepping into his punch, really just his right hand. Some people have power in one hand (Cotto's left), some people have power in both (Foreman). Some only have one punch. The way Wilder slings his body into the right is not something translates--or at least he hasn't been able or willing to make it translate--tovhis other punches.
