It’s seems like after almost every event this gets said. Aaron Pico was supposed to retire six months ago and just won this weekend. Cowboy and JDS both need to retire apparently. Jacare needed to retire after he lost to Jan. Yet as soon as they win again they are back in the swing of things. Why don’t posters here understand consecutive losses and bad performances?

because delusional sherdoggers genuinely believe they know more about fighting than pro fighters and legit coaches.

That being said sometimes it is valid. I'm not sure JDS has much more to offer in his career.

So do you think Bj Penn and Chuck sould keep fighting?

Well, some perspective is needed.

I mean folks like Diego Sanchez, who are getting bowel releasing comatose KOed and or being human punching bags, and speaking in tongues, certainly should not keep getting put in there to be fodder for some rising star. If a fighter is a poster boy for CTE, then folks having some basic empathy for the level of their brain injuries isn't the worst thing.

JDS definitely should consider retirement. Pico is very young.

Sometimes I think it's just fans of certain fighters seeing how they've declined and not wanting them to tarnish their legacies or take unnecessary punishment. Of course this usually doesn't factor in the fact that the fighters need to fight to earn money.

When former champs/challengers are losing to people out of top 10, they're fighting for a check and it shows.

Bc the ufc has no problem stringing fighters along who are well past it

No one wants another Aaron Hernandez or Chris Benoit

Just because a fighter bounces back and manages to notch up a few wins doesn't mean they aren't over the hill. Shit... just because a fighter isn't over the hill doesn't mean they haven't taken too much damage in their careers. Just look at Junior! He doesnt even have a nose anymore!

Because we care about their well-being? c'mon son, we don't wanna see Frank Shamrock still going at it and eats punches to the face for dinner at 47.

MMA fans have a short memory whenever someone goes on a skid they forget about all of their wins or the context of their losses and jump to extremes.

Whenever someone with a level head appears and tries to be objective they are blasted as being a casual or ignorant

Because watching fighters lose to guys they’d have crushed in their prime is depressing as hell.

Sometimes they say it about fighters they find boring, sometimes it's fighters that haven't won in a decade and really should retire and other times they root for and or bet on a certain fighter and when they lose they want them to retire for disappointing them or losing them money.

For Cerrone he went from only being finished by body shots to being finished by head shot 3x in a row.. Not saying he should retire but at the very least he needs to take a break. Another one would be Condit, he's losing fights he really shouldn't be. He said he was going to retire if he lost to Lawler. Condit went from Finishing guys like Hardy, DHK and Rory and not being submitted for 10 years to losing by submission in 3 of his last 4 fights.

hen fighters get worn out chins they get a string of bad losses til they retire. some people want em to retire b4 that

Because people like to speculate and share their own thoughts, live someone else's lives.

You are only as good as your last fight..
