He is a champion in Karate and has a lot of experience, his technical should be on point.

We're not accepting sage threads at the moment, sorry for the inconvenience

I don't know about you but I really haven't seen enough from him yet to make this kind of determination.

I've been curious about that too...If I was him I'd be doing all kinds of crazy high flying kicks

Like Kalmah said... There are of McDojos handing out Black belts to 9 year olds and giving trophies for screaming real loud.

Beating schoolage geeks whose parents are forcing then to "go to karate" in a point spar is a hell of a lot different from beating full grown men who want to beat you into a living death in a full contact cage fight.

Isn't Sage built? Why he could not man handle Barberena? Maybe Sage being sick hurt his strength in the fight? Maybe his grappling is just not developed so his strength didn't matter. Unless Barberena is a strong dude but just not toned.

exactly.
You have fighters in the UFC that have black belts in various styles yet their striking/or sth else is abysmal, such that their technique would be criticized at the white belt level if they trained at a serious dojo.
But at the same time, it doesnt mean they cannot be efficient. Cause often ppl then argue how are they so successful. It just means there is lots of room to improve.

You can't just do all that in mma fight, there's always fear of takedown. Exactly what happened in his last fight. But he's young in mma, just needs experience.

Nice collection. :)

but is it kyokushin karate tho?

Most guys he beat in karate tournaments was like the other poster here said forced little boys who have to go to the pointkarate tournament or else they wont be allowed in the roleplaying larping party or WOW in the weekends. It is pretty different actually fighting peoople that want to fight you. Sage got some potential though if he calms down a little and try to think before throwing out techniques.

Awesome, If I were him, I would just win every fight by ko in 15 seconds

Hell yeah...Just saying that he has the athleticism to pull off some sweet headkicks but he doesn't use it as part of his game. Don't be scared homie, work on it and go for the highlight reel knockouts.

Because he competed in show competitions, not combat. Basically focused more on the art instead of the application. He has a great foundation for sure, but he definitely needs to work on adapting it to MMA.

Then why did Dana White promote Sage as next big thing? Surely Dana knows if Sage is legit.
