Why is Oleg Taktarov not in the UFC Hall Of Fame!!!??

I don't understand why Jeff Blatnick isn't in it and Mask is.

Blatnick worked non-stop to help legitimize MMA around north america and was an early contributor to the UFC.

Mask bought advertising and made shirts promoting MMA.

Blatnick worked nonstop to help turn MMA into a sport that would favor wrestlers.
Takedowns that meant nothing, pinning the opponent against the cage, top position, the weigh-in schedule were all very favorable to wrestlers.

Passing the guard, getting mount, taking the back, attempting subs, all became ignored by the scoring system.

(I have no idea about Mask or what his efforts did for the UFC and why Zuffa is so grateful to him.)

I don't take their HOF all that serious right now. Oleg was bad ass and should be in it but so should others. Sadly many of the early UFC guys just aren't going to get all of their due recognition.

Then why is tito and ken in it?

I do kind of agree that Dana is biased but i hardly think that he has a prob with Taktarov.

The real question is what has Taktarov done to be in the HOM? Sure he won a Tournament and drew in a super fight with Ken but he is not HOM material if the HOM ment anything that is b/c i do agree its a bit of a joke.

What Taktarov has done besides representing sambo and ACTUALY showing sambo techniques as a oppose to some karate guy who brawls, he has also defeated and Won UFC 6!!!

I mean, people made such a big deal when Royce beat ufc 1 and they hailed gracie jujitsu and Royce Gracie as some invincible legend who to this day gets props from the ufc and Joe Rogan was a host of ufcs 20 year anniversary last year in 2013.

Meanwhile, five ufcs later, we have Oleg who defeated Dave Beneteau who is a giant Judoka of 2nd to degree and then he defeated Anthony "Mad Dog" Macias who is known for his violent and kamikaze style of fighting both in the first rounds by submission and later on that night, he beat Tank Abbott by submission as well winning UFC 6.

Now people are gonna bitch the fact that it took him a bit long to beat tank abbott but damn dude, his two previous opponents had solid grappling/martial arts skills!

Taktarov wouldn't be in any sorts of Hall Of fame.

This is the second time your bashing Oleg Taktarov and based on your first post, it seems like your defending your beloved Donna White despite the fact that people are calling him out on his biased decisions!

Either way, its very disrespectful of you to talk ill of Oleg, a guy who has representing his martial arts in a proper manner while other so called specialist basically went out there, put on a gi and just brawled like drunken buffoons.

Atleast Oleg showed how magnificent the art of Sambo can be!!!

He just wasn't around long enough to become one of the main guys pre zuffa UFC would market as a main event fighter and was Russian and spoke very little English back then.

It doesn't matter that he's not in it, most fans from that era rember how much of a bad ass he was and easily
one of the toughest fighters to ever fight NHB. There was zero quit in him while he was in the cage.

He was my favorite fighter from the early era but there's other guys ahead of him in line to be in the Ufc hof, but why would that matter to anyone?

He's making good movies with guys like Deniro and Pacino and is acting circles around every other mma fighter who ever tried to cross over to te big screen.

Amen to that and I am glad that I am not the only Oleg fan, his fights give me strength, inspiration and creativity in my own personal endeavours. He was for sure a very technical fighter and a true martial arts master!

Bonnar and that Mask guy makes the HoF a joke anyways

Shame Taktarov wasn't fighting at UFC 1, it most certainly would have been him vs Royce in the final...

On my site, MMADraws.com, we have Oleg as the #4 draw in UFC for the 1993-95 period. http://www.mmadraws.blogspot.ca/2014/05/1993-1995-mma-top-draws.html

The three guys ahead of him are the holy trinity of Gracie, Shamrock and Severn. Going through the top 4 year by year, most guys in the top 4 are either in or likely to go in with the exceptions of Don Frye (surprised he's not in) and Kimo (should be in, IMO).

That said, there are only 10 guys in it right now with an awful lot of still active guys likely to go in. If Oleg's not in already, he probably won't be, which is a shame.

He is not in UFC1-4 he lost to Shamarock and he does not have a Meathead T-Shirt business.

I don't know

who cares about the ufc hall of fame - might as well ask them who made them the most money and make a group of those people

Didn't know getting hit by a drunk driver who was convicted of vehicular manslaughter by unlawful act with gross negligence while intoxicated was the same thing as "driving like an idiot".

I might have my facts wrong, but were they not "street racing" when the crash occured?

Wouldn't be surprised if Jon Anik or Mike Goldberg get into the UFC HOF before he does... shits a joke.

Isn't it common knowledge he was involved in a fixed fight? Pretty sure John McCarthy talks about it in his book

He had no control over that as he didn't know it was fixed. Oleg was beyond pissed after the fight. He was brilliant with submissions.
