Why is nobody raising their hand to step up for a WW title shot?

Opportunities like this don't come often. The Usman x Colby fight has fallen through multiple times now and it looks like they just can't meet on everyone's terms.

This is a perfect opportunity for someone to step up and call for that fight.

Masvidal could of held back on the Dumbass belt and fought for a real title with real championship pay implications for the future. Now, if he loses to Nate he's fucked and will be mid tier and irrelevant again.

Even Woodley could step up and ask for it.
Shit, even a LW could offer to move up and fight for the title.

Kind of weird that no one really is trying to take advantage of an empty slot in a championship fight.

For example, when Khabib and Tony fell through last time, everybody and their mom was calling to step up..

    Discuss..

Nah, Masvidal defs made the right decision. The Nate fight will get him far more casual exposure, more money, and it's a more winnable fight than Usman.

Edwards and Woodley have both tried to pursue a rematch against Usman but he hasn't accepted the terms apparently, because he only wants Colby (who is also refusing to sign)

I mean, if you don't think you can win any fight in your division, why be a fighter?

Thats besides the point. He asked why no one is stepping up. Edwards is on a 8 fight win streak. And Im not so sure he'd get wrecked since he's already fought Usman. Edwards has improved more since than. Usman still fights the same.

They are. It's the champ Usman who isn't saying yes to any opponents.

Usman didn't say yes to the Colby fight. Neither of them did. They both wanted more money

Sorry. Typo. As far as I know, Usman never agreed to fight Colby. Colby never agreed to fight Usman either because he wanted more money.

No one is stepping up because Useman is refusing to be lowballed so they cant get any fight booked with him. Its annoying and its a pain in the ass for fans but its probably what these champs need to do if they want to get paid a champions wage.

I dont blame him. Its a hard road to the top to be champion and most of the way you make no money. These guys at the top of the card really need to be getting paid a better percentage so they dont retire broke. I dont really think the prelim guys should be getting the big bucks but the guys on the actual cards should make more. Short of forming a union holding up a division is about the only thing these guys can do to try to force it.

Eventually Useman is going to fight somebody. Hell need a check or the ufc will want to move the division along and all we can do is wait for it.

The good news Useman isnt that exciting of a fighter so at least we arent missing much but a 25 minute grind. In the meantime we will just have to watch 2 other fools punch each other in the head instead

The impression I get is that no one is taking the new points with ESPN+ that well. That's the vibe I'm getting.

It's not just been at WW. There's HW where Bork Chestnar had almost a pen with his name on at UFC headquarters to write his own cheques. Borck v Jones would also be bookable and MASSIVE... You look at how they're handling title shots now and you'll see... They ain't always the best guys anymore.

Ok, Zhang won.. but was deffo an odd choice given the other fighters in her division...
Eye getting a shot. Thiago and Smith were so happy to get a shot they prolly wouldn't have negotiated that hard. CCC also mentioned he'd fucked it up holding out for better deals.

I get the impression Conor pulled out of a few fights once it was clear "red panty day" was a thing of the past.

ESPN+ is Reebok mk2. At this point it's the higher paid athletes getting shafted. But watch, over time, more and more champions will sit out over this.

Usman is no Conor or Bork Chestnar.......... fighters like him are the ones who benefit the most from the ESPN+ deal. Back in the old model he'll never be able to sell more than 150k PPVs unless he's fighting someone like Nate Diaz.
