on a adcc match? sorry, didn't really wanna add a question on the grappling technique part of sherdog

was wondering if the heavyweights would know

full nelson is basically a move to incapacitate and not improve position
also full nelson can = paralysis

Can't pull the head forward by the back of the head either. Think it's all about keeping the injuries to a minimum.

Neck cranks and other possibly paralysing moves shouldnt be - and arent - allowed. Kerr shouldnt have been able to use that neck crank in Pride either. That was horrible.

If you fall on the fighter you can break there neck by pushing the head forward.

END OF THREAD.

shoulda read the thread first, somebody got it, sorry boys.

I did not know that it was illegal or would do that kind of damage. When I was a kid in Wrestling we used them all the time. It didn't really hurt because we had strong necks I guess but It was sort of a stalemate move it was only a way to hold someone till you could do something else. It's really hard to get out of one one those. Now mind you I was a kid doing these things so maybe being a grown man would do more damage by using it. Vey interesting topic and thanks for posting it. I never thought about it not being used.

Neck crank is allowed to open the guard, but must release as soon as guard opens.

You can use a full nelson in wrestling. A half nelson yes.

yea my arsenal of neck cranks, when I train them I do them very lightly, and me and my partners dont use them in grappling sessions. Its like going too a Chiropractor that never did it before and just got out of prison. But I train them extensivy, as self defence tecniques, being that they are dangerous and are good for street fights on the ground considering the postion you are mostly in when you do them.

It's dangerous, and if the opponent resist the crank, you're in for a loooooong and booooooring fight.
