Usually this is what the UFC has do do. Overhype mediocre fighters to sell PPV's. Now, HBO is marketing Lemieux as GGG's first "real" challenge. Lemieux is a decent fighter, but this fight is an obvious mismatch. If your most notable win is against Gabriel Rosado, then you have some problems. Lemieux also got KO'd by Rubio, which is a bad loss. Ignoring bad losses, and ignoring the lack of quality wins is something UFC has always done while promoting fighters. Just wondering why HBO is going in this direction all of a sudden.

Lem is the real deal. His KO loss to Rubio was a fluke.

Lemieux also lost to Alcine, whom as 7 losses. I can understand hyping an undefeated fighter that is KO'ing everybody in his way, but Lemiex has been beaten twice by two mediocre fighters.

Because nobody knows who the hell he is so make him seem more legit like some middleweight everybody is sleeping on and maybe sell some more PPVs

It is because he is looking mighty handsome while knocking fools with style

Good for business.

You just answered your own question

They have a PPV to sell

Also, Chocolatito is going to get some massive exposure

I really like the 30 seconds he got in the Golovkin/Lemieux special

Oh and this guy's here too. Who oh just the #1 P4P fighter in our sport, no biggie.

Obviously so that people will buy this mismatch on PPV.

I don't see him being Over hyped at all. David is who he is

Who gives a shit? Hype sells tickets for casuals, more casuals means more money which is good for business.

I don't really get this. Golovkin is the favorite to win, but David Lemieux is a good opponent and he's one of the top guys in his division. Isn't GGG ranked #2, and Lemieux ranked #4? If we call that a mismatch, then we have to call almost every fight a mismatch.

Mayweather was #1, and I'm not even sure Berto was in the top 20. That was an actual mismatch, and it was more expensive to watch. This is a highly competitive fight compared to that.

Yea, not sure why people are shittng on this fight. Lemieux is a legit opponent.

I mean who else would they have ggg fight? I mean the ward fight isn't happening anytime soon...

I understand why people think this should not be PPV. That's perfectly reasonable, and I actually agree with it. But it's definitely not a mismatch.

The thing that is funny to me is that some people are critical of GGG's ability, but then call it a mismatch when he fights a top 5 opponent.

Which one is it? Is he overrated? Or is he so good that top 5 opponents are cans compared to him? You can't really minimize his abilities, but then turn around and say he's too good to fight other top middleweights.

If you truly believe he was getting lit up by Willie Monroe, that Gabe Rosado boxed him up, and that his defense is weak, then you cannot go on to claim Lemeiux is a mismatch.

It's a mismatch but they're both in the top 5, that must means there's a big drop in talent. Honestly, GGG is the best and the only guysI'm interested in seeing him fight is Quillen or Canelo. Think of Jon Jones vs Bader, both in the top 5 of their division but complete mismatch.

With that said this topic is utterly retarded, the fight has divisional importance and is stylistically pleasing. Hype sells fights and everything is overhyped.

Yea...I can see why people are saying this shouldn't be on ppv. And I agree..

But he's fighting a top 5 opponent..

This isn't an Andre berto

Are you 12 years old or something? Do you not understand the business model of a fight promoter yet? Either you just started watching the sport last week or you're mentally deficient.

I'll say this if ggg gets hit like he did against monroe. David will put him on his ass.

I want to see ggg's D and offense against David
