Gunnar has one of the best top control games in MMA right now and if they trained seriously on the ground this whole time and Conor still looked defenseless on his back than he truly has no hope against Nate

IMO Gunnar is not the right choice to train with for a fight with Nate
Conor isnt improving his BJJ skills in a couple months, and Nelson doesnt have a great tkd defense, Conor should train with a wrestler and refine his striking, just avoid the ground game and exploit speed in the standup fight

You make a great point.
If I remember correctly, he said in an interview after his last fight, that he wanted to spend the summer with his 2y old son, then fight 1 more time later this year.
He has given up on connie, he knows it's impossible to beat nate.
Conor has Dillion and great boxing dudes.
If Conor went to the ground with Gunnar, he would get toyed so easily that it would fuck up his confidence.
