He's just not well rounded enough.

I don't think he's as good at boxing as lot of people make him out to be really, for such a great boxer, he sure doesn't have a whole lot of one punch knock outs. I think he's a phenomenal striker however, but just not on the level of fucking Roy Jones or anything like that. He was going for takedowns against Lee Murray.

If he was Fedor's size, he would never ever beat guys like Schilts, Hunt, Crocop, and etc.

Someone will surely bring up Hendo, but it would be like saying looking at Serra beating GSP and measuring another fighter against GSP on how they would 'hypothetically' do against Serra, which wouldn't be the wisest thing to do when you are comparing two fighters. Hendo didn't think he would knock Fedor out, do you really think Hendo has what it takes, in his prime or whatever, to take a decision from Fedor or submit Fedor?

I think Anderson Silva is an amazing fighter, but seen lot of people with better boxing, muaythai, flash kicks and etc.

Stopped reading after "not well rounded". You're not champ for 7 years if you're not well rounded

Hespect

Messi is not a good defender too. He sucks!

The GOAT has to be able to beat EVERYONE. Not just 185 and 205 lb'ers. Anderson would not beat top ten heavies.

Shows how weak MW division was really

Okay you know what, let's say it was. The fact that he was able to keep his belt for 7 years, against various opponents from different fighting backgrounds, in a high level sport where one mistake can cost you the fight or put you to sleep, is quite remarkable.

It is actually.

Just not goat. Not well rounded enough.

The best striker he faced in his career is Vitor. coming off a lay off longer than a year.

The worst match up he faced in his career is Weidman, coming off a lay off longer than a year.

Coincidence?

You have to put this in context. Anderson was champ at a time where the so called new breed fighters did not exist. Fighters usually had one or two assets and were coming from a specific martial art. Nowadays, fighters implement all fighting aspects in their game, and often start training MMA at a young age, ala Rory.

I always thought GSP was better during their reigns.

If you don't think AS is GOAT, then why don't you list who is your GOAT? I'm sure we could easily dissect him too.

Fedor GSP BJ Shogun

This new breed myth never dies. Oh wait, where did that new breed Lesnar, Carwin go

It will always be GSP, Anderson and Fedor. Depending on how he closes out his career Bones will probably be in there as well.

Anderson isn't the GOAT, nor is he as well-rounded as GSP or Fedor. But to act like he isn't well-rounded, and doesn't have a great resume, is foolishness.

Really? Not a good boxer because he doest have 1 punch knockouts? And what the hell has RJJ, maybe the goat of boxing in his prime, got to do with MMA?
ps. I know youre trolling

Of course you can make examples of some fighters that developped their arsenal. I was talking about the evolution of the sport. You just can't bring Weidman to the table when you know very well they peaked at different moments. I don't agree with your time logic

I like Andy but Jon is the best. Anderson he cheated in the Chael Sonnen rematch.
