Why hasn't jon jones improved his boxing?

His distance management is top notch even without a great jab. His boxing itself isn’t bad (his head movement, footwork and body hooks are good), its just his punching in general isn’t up to the rest of his game so it appears as a weakness.

He would be even better with a better jab but so far he hasn’t needed to adapt to that, he might need to at HW idk.

This is not to bash jon jones but a serious question. We have all these wrestlers that have come into mma without a striking base that have come and do well.

While some don't have a complete striking game, they have enough, Woodley, Chandler, gaethje, Usman, DC, cejudo and so many others.

It seems like jon despite being more seasoned has no hands. Is it a coach thing? Is it just something he's never going to be good at? Maybe someone who train striking, can you share ?

It's be cool to see jon piece someone up with combinations.
I think he’s tried

but he Learned how to punch from his kickboxing instructor who obviously can’t teach boxing for shit

those neural pathways can be difficult to overcome.

This is why you need a solid boxing coach at the beginning. It’s a lot harder to fix those bad habits and patterns after they’ve been so deeply established and burrowed into the brain stem.

He has some of the best defence in the sport oddly enough

even when offensively, his boxing is the weakest aspect of his game.

He doesn't really need a diverse boxing game but would be interesting to see him develop a good jab, he has so many tools in his aresenal as is hard to be able to do everything.
