Why has no one tried a Ryu Uppercut in MMA yet?

I'd be happy to see more normal uppercuts thrown in MMA, let alone video-game ones.

The problem with a Shoryuken type uppercut is that it's too wide and too much of an arm punch. The most devastating uppercuts are compact, with the power generated from the glutes and quads mainly. Those powerful trunk muscles in conjunction with good form spell death for anyone inside range.

Just watch tape of a prime Tyson throwing uppercuts. The uppercut Aldo put Manny down with was beautiful, too

just look how low and tight that uppercut starts on the 1st frame.

conversely Aldo's uppercut was pretty much all arm because it was so low and long. a sweet uppercut to be sure, but no legs under it because it was so low

I assume you mean just a jumping uppercut? 360 spin isn't very good.

Heres a possibility: Throw the uppercut, if it stuns/staggers then before you recoil, jump, and pull a guard jump (spread legs in mid-air, wrap around opponent) This could either end up as a guard jump or a thesz press

looks something like that.

If its a thesz press then upwrap your legs before you fall or you may damage yourself, but hang tight so it still finishes the move.
If it ends up a guard jump, then you can go for the submission. If it ends up being a thesz press into mount, then go for GnP or sub.
